Do any of you go to court to watch cases you aren't linked to?

I did Jury Duty a lifetime ago and have never been called up again. I wondered if it was possible to attend court in the gallery for cases, and if anyone does this?

And how do I find out which cases are being tried when?

I did as a student when I thought I wanted to be a lawyer. You can still. Check the listings online for timings. If you speak to the clerks they can tell you what's happening as the listings will only list the defendants, not the nature of the case.

We did once, a sexual assault case. The guy in the dock looked utterly bewildered and like he didn't have a clue what was happening to him. After all the evidence was read, he was found not guilty.
It was interesting to attend. I did jury service about 25 years ago and we all turned up suited and booted. The jury at the recent trial we saw were a right scruffy bunch, one of whom was leaning back in his chair and chewing gum.
