Can you re use chip pan oil?

Quick question - we cooked some homemade chips about four days ago in a pan of sunflower oil and kept the oil after cooking. Can I re use that oil for the same purpose today or is that a complete no no?

Also - what's the right way to dispose of the old oil?

Jesus wept.
Our chip pan got changed once a year, if that.
Yes it's ok to reuses.

Rivkka · 08/09/2019 17:36

Yes it's fine

Next time though use lard, easier to store when cold.

You can use it a few times. Pour into an old oil container and bin it when you dont need it any more (unless your local council recycles it - mine doesnt)

You can smell it if it needs changing - walk past a less reputable fast food place, it's unmistakeable Smile

If you be all snobbish about it I am only fry chips.
No random sweet potato or worse fish!
The fat won't smell then and birds love it.

Yeah. My gran had hers for at least 40 years.

I can't remember the last time I change the oil in my chip pan I don't use it very often probably once a week or once a fortnight it's probably not been changed for a couple of months now but as PP said I ever fry ordinary potatoes in it nothing else..
Once I have used a few times I filter it through a few layers of kitchen paper and stick it back in its bottle to be reused whenever I want it.
