You’re gonna fix that mouse that's what You gonna do,
You’re gonna fix that mouse.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 08/09/2019 17:19

Get traps and try and work out where they are coming from- open holes/ vents etc
House or flat?

Mishappening · 08/09/2019 17:22

Traps are the thing. The splat ones are much more humane than the "humane" ones which leave the poor creature terrified and trapped in a plastic cage overnight. Then put the dead mouse out for the buzzards' breakfast and you will be supporting the natural life cycle.

Seadragonusgiganticusmaximus · 08/09/2019 17:23

Be thankful it’s only a mouse

DH is waiting for it to reappear so he can kill it with a frying pan Hmm

It's coming from a vent in the kickboard

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 08/09/2019 17:27

Vent covers from amazon pronto

jamieandjohn · 08/09/2019 17:30

It's quite cute really but is creeping me out thinking about all the diseases and that it's helping itself to our food

OP posts:
jamieandjohn · 08/09/2019 17:31

It could just be the one. I had one in my cleaning product cupboard eating my soap powder box and wipes full body shudder Anyway called pest control they laid out a trap and poison and we never saw or heard anything again (knock on wood). Seal up its entry points, catch Jerry and lay out some traps I say.

  • You’re gonna fix that mouse that's what You gonna do, You’re gonna fix that mouse.*

So glad I wasn't the only one singing 😂

Please don't kill it OP :( can't you catch it and pop it outside far far away??

Beamur · 08/09/2019 17:38

They are cute. But you don't want it as a house guest.
Humane traps are fine, but you need to check them often and take the mouse a fair distance away (or it will come back).
If you want to kill it, get a spring one that does it instantly. Poison will leave you with dead mouse smell for ages (not nice) and glue traps are barbaric.

jamieandjohn · 08/09/2019 17:39

Ok that makes me feel a bit better. One I can cope with. A family, not so much.

Beamur · 08/09/2019 17:39

If you try a humane trap, bait with a malteser. Irresistible.

Vinorosso74 · 08/09/2019 17:44

Borrow a cat? I won't offer ours as he's a terrible hunter.

jamieandjohn · 08/09/2019 17:47

I did think about borrowing a cat. They seem to like our garden

Babdoc · 08/09/2019 17:47

Cricketmum, it’s much crueler to abandon it far from its regular haunts, with no food supply or shelter. It will either fall prey to an owl or cat, or you will be exporting the problem when it finds a way into someone else’s house.

Mice are vermin, they dribble urine wherever they go, they shit in your food areas and they breed fearfully fast. It’s more sensible to kill them instantly with a trap like the Little Nipper, which breaks their neck.
My garden backs onto barley fields, so I have an endless supply of field mice trying to get indoors for the winter.
Fortunately my cat is a doughty hunter. The DC call her the Verminator, and there’s a steady supply of half eaten mouse corpses on the kitchen floor every Autumn!

jamieandjohn · 08/09/2019 17:56

No sure I'm the type mouse freeing type tbh, plus we live in a city so putting far away would essentially be someone else's house

OP posts:
Beamur · 08/09/2019 17:59

Fair enough, then get a trap that kills it quickly.

Adopt an older cat!!
