Scarborough residents - parking help please?

I'm booked into the Premier Inn in Scarborough for three nights. I stayed last year and parked in the Palm Court car park across the road and had a terrible time. (Basically my car ended up stranded for a day because the parking machine couldn't read my ticket. The staff were vastly unhelpful too!)

Can I park in the Brunswick car park for three days/nights? What sort of payment system does it use (and can you explain it to me in small words? Yes I do have anxiety, how can you tell... 😩) I really don't want to use the Palm Court again if I can help it!

Thank you!

Anyone? I know it's a stupid thing but my anxiety can't let it go. 😩

I'm not local so can't help, but Id think it would worth calling the Premier Inn and asking?

QuestionableMouse · 08/09/2019 12:40

Thanks. I've emailed both places since posting this so will hopefully get a reply soon. 😀

Won't the Brunswick be horribly expensive overnight? Can you find some on street parking? I don't normally stay in Scarborough for longer than it takes to walk the dog along the beach or do some shopping though, so probably not the best person to ask. What about the station car park? Don't know how far that is from the Premier Inn, but as the station is very central, I'd guess not far, and, although they will charge, it's sort of set up for people to park for longer periods and come in and out at odd times.

SistersOfMerci · 08/09/2019 14:28

Not ideal but could you park up in the park and ride car park and bus it in?

QuestionableMouse · 08/09/2019 14:40

Thanks for the ideas!

I'd rather not use the park and ride because I'm not keen on being so far away from the car.

The palm Court is £10 for 24 hours so not cheap either.

www.brunswickshopping.com/visit-us/parking/ Reading that I think it might be roughly the same?

There are lots of unrestricted parking places in Scarborough, you just need to go a bit further from the seafront, maybe a 10 to 15 minute walk.

Ohflippineck · 09/09/2019 08:08

Lots of free parking on street in the road that leads to SeaLife. Can’t remember the name but there’s only one.

BarbaraofSeville · 09/09/2019 08:34

Some of the Scarborough Hotels sell you a voucher for £5 per day that allows you to park in certain open air car parks for the duration of your stay, basically from the time you check in until 1 pm the following day - would that be an option?

Although I wouldn't recommend using the St Nicholas Cliff car park outside the Travelodge, because even though it's pretty much across the street from the Premier Inn, all the seagulls congregate in that area and your car will end up absolutely coated in seagull poo .

BarbaraofSeville · 09/09/2019 08:49

This is the parking voucher scheme I posted about:

QuestionableMouse · 09/09/2019 09:08

Thanks for that!

The Brunswick car park is £16 for 24 hours which is too much. The street parking sounds good though, I'll look into it.

BarberaofSeville is it Scalby mills road, you are thinking of?

Zaphodsotherhead · 09/09/2019 13:21

Scalby Mills (and the Sea Life centre) are quite a way from the middle of Scarborough, where I presume the Premier Inn is. Depends how much luggage you've got, I suppose.

NoParticularPattern · 09/09/2019 13:23

Try the NCP on North Street if you can’t get street parking. The pedestrian entrance is to the right of Wilko. You should be able to find some on street parking either down the Valley (aim for the entrance to Palm Court off Vernon Rd then carry on to the roundabout at the bottom and go right, 3rd exit) or there is a car park on St Nicholas Street further round that the Premier Inn but it’s often full because of all the other hotels there.

www.ncp.co.uk/find-a-car-park/car-parks/scarborough-balmoral/ Link to the NCP. Not sure how expensive it will be as I usually take advantage of the whole day rate because I’m there early and we also get a discount with them through work too. It’s cheaper than Brunswick though I do know that.

SistersOfMerci · 09/09/2019 13:24

To park at nearby the sea life centre then the Op is going to have one hell of a walk or going to have to bus it. Therefore using the park and ride I suggested would surely be better?

user1471462428 · 09/09/2019 13:27

How about trying the JustPark website and parking on someone’s drive. We use and it really helps with my anxiety as I feel the car will be safer than in a car park.

QuestionableMouse · 09/09/2019 14:12

Thanks! The premier Inn is off Vernon road/falconers Road.

Posted too soon sorry!

I don't want to park to far away because I'll be carrying a decent amount of stuff (clothes, laptop, a few textbooks, bits of of food) so don't want to walk miles.

Is there any overnight parking by the Grand Hotel.always seems to be lots of cars parked there
The North Street one is handy though,
Also there is a car park behind the Heron shop,or was, i think it is still there just off St Thomas Street on the right
