Need some encouragement please! I’m 25 with 2 children and a part time job. Sick of going to work purely for money. Can’t live the rest of my life just doing a job because it was convenient. So I want to do a Birth and Beyond foundation degree. Now I’m going to have to sit an A level to get me on to the course which will be a year. And then part time studying the degree for 4 years. And then theoretically I’ll be able to do what I love for a living. But right now it feels very very daunting and impossible 🙁 has anyone done anything similar and survived the ordeal. Really really want to do it. And I know I’ll regret it for the rest of my life if I don’t

I went full-time when my youngest was 2, I studied like a full-time job. It was fine but I did have the support of my husband. Is there an access course you could do instead of A-levels, quite often these help with study skills.

I would prefer to do that but I’m not sure if we’d afford it or not, so I think I’ll have to work part time and study part time. It doesn’t look like there’s any other way for me to get in other than doing an A level.

It might be worth doing some more research on full-time university before you get that far. You may be able to access childcare bursaries and grants from the university themselves because of your low income. I got help at a Russell Group university, so check out a few courses if you can. Good luck.
