Children's bedroom furniture

Any recommendations for children's bedroom furniture?

We are moving and I want to replace the furniture in both Dc's rooms (8 and 5).

Where is good to get something decent but reasonable value?

So not Argos or B and M as I've bought furniture there before and it falls apart, or is easily water damaged by spilt drinks.

I'd rather not spend £300 on a chest of drawers either, so I'm looking for suggestions in between the two if possible?

I've already looked at IKEA but they don't have anything that takes my fancy.

I am rubbish at home stuff but I am sure there will be better informed mumsnetters than I who can give me some tips!

Thanks :)

TBH Ikea is probably your best bet or 2nd hand solid wood purchased locally.

Thanks, probably should have said - they'll keep their current beds so it's drawers, wardrobes, bookcase, desks I am looking for particularly

Thanks :)

Depends if you care about matching stuff. If not, definitely go for solid wood second hand, you'll get way more for your money. Try facebook local pages or gumtree, or you can also find things in local auctions or British Heart Foundation furniture shops.

Thanks LaDame we've been down this route before, and we've always bought bits individually second hand for their bedrooms. Appreciate what you are saying about getting better quality stuff that way.

I would like things to be a bit matching this time though! IKEA quality is roughly what I'm aiming for, doesn't need to be solid wood.

Though now I feel guilty about the wastefulness of buying new.

I'd be very grateful for anymore suggestions?
