Trainers for astroturf? What's suitable?

I'm hoping other parents have come across this, we have tried googling and are a bit stumped.

DD1 has just started secondary school. They must have 'trainers suitable' for astroturf, both for PE and for break/lunchtimes. DH went with DD and got her something that he thought was ok, the sports shops they went to weren't much help. DD has now been told she doesn't have the correct trainers, but no further guidance on why they're not right, or what she needs! Can anyone help?

My DS has astro turf trainers. They were in football boot section. Sorry, not great at links but see if following works...

Thank you, that is helpful. I don't understand what it is that males them suitable and others not, though. Confused

Our junior football team have to have Astro turf boots for playing on Astro pitches, they grip much better than normal trainers (which don't grip at all on Astro because of the sand), as the soles have special grips.

Just buy Astro turf footie trainers. They have very low “studs” on them as opposed to normal trainers. You can get good deals eg decathlon.

Go to sports direct and ask for 'Astros', they're usually with football boots and have bobbles instead of studs

The astro turf trainers are designed specially for the turf, and shouldn't be worn on concrete like regular trainers as they wear away quicker. (Worked with shoes in SD) I'd recommend not going for cheap cheap ones but again, wouldn't spend a fortune on them either.

You will however see a lot of boys wearing them as regular trainers but if you want them to last then keep them for the turf only. The rubber on the bottom is less durable on rough surfaces, but on the turf is fine.

Can be a pain having to have 4 sets of shoes for school though (shoes, trainers, turfs and football/rugby boots)

Don't worry about astros wearing out. I have a footie mad DS, and they usually fall to bits round about the time he's growing out of them anyway. They usually last 6 to 9 months, so if you buy them now they'll probably do the whole school year. Sondico and Umbro are cheap makes (I used to wear them when I was a student and hard up -they're fugly but do the job) and usually you can pick up last season's make of more expensive brands on sale price. We normally get them from Sports Direct.
