Feeling so upset husband shouted at me

Yesterday was the last day of our holiday (in England) about a 5 hour journey back home. Yesterday at 6pm I was moaning “I don’t want to go home back at work tomorrow “ that sort of thing. He isn’t back at
Work until Monday and I’m the sole driver. He got really angry at me for saying that and hit his fist down hard on the table bared his teeth and shouted at me “do the maths” meaning calculate how long it will take to get home. This really upset me. Even at work today and still now each time I think about it it brings tears to my eyes. I’m not usually so sensitive and can give back but this has really got to me.😢

It sounds a huge overreaction on his part - does he often shout at you, OP?

Devonishome1 · 06/09/2019 17:21

Only when they don’t go his way.

And you stay with this man...why?

Topseyt · 06/09/2019 17:23

Sounds like a ridiculous overreaction from him. Is there more to this? Is he often so vicious in his responses.

I doubt I would be too keen to see or speak to him again for a long time, to be honest.

Devonishome1 · 06/09/2019 17:25

I suspect that he may be on the autism spectrum and wonder if that makes him behave like that.

OK, so he is a nasty, spoilt brat. Why are you with him? He doesn't respect you. He only respects and likes himself.

RedSoloCup · 06/09/2019 17:26

Sounds like he was a knob for no reason

ellzebellze · 06/09/2019 17:26

So why wasn't he doing any of the driving?

WorraLiberty · 06/09/2019 17:27

I suspect that he may be on the autism spectrum and wonder if that makes him behave like that.

Even if that were true, do you think it's ok to treat the person he apparently loves in that way?

Whether he is or not, it doesn't mean you have to put up with shit like that.

ukgift2016 · 06/09/2019 17:31

I seen this quite a lot recently on here. Is being autistic the new excuse for domestic abuse?

FudgeBrownie2019 · 06/09/2019 17:33

No lie, your Autism comment is the biggest cop out I've read on here for a while.

Even if he is on the spectrum it doesn't excuse or diminish his behaviour. If he's not having angry outbursts and baring his teeth like a twat savage at work then you can bet he's in control of his emotions and choosing you as his shitty outlet.

Please stand up for yourself. This man is an arsehole for speaking to anyone this way, let alone someone who'll be driving him to and from holidays. The fucker can walk next time.

yourestandingonmyneck · 06/09/2019 17:34

What does he mean "do the maths"? What was his point?

Singlenotsingle · 06/09/2019 17:41

You should have made him walk

Devonishome1 · 06/09/2019 17:53

He doesn’t like driving in the dark that’s why I drove.

What a load of bollocks. Coming from an autistic woman who knows a fair few autistic people.
He manages to work without acting like that there, which means he is completely in control of this type of behaviour and just being a knob.

Dyrne · 06/09/2019 17:58

If you were banging on about it for hours moaning and refusing to start driving back meaning you’d get back ridiculously late, I can understand him snapping.

Otherwise, he’s a twat.

lunaland · 06/09/2019 18:01

Op how dare you say he might be on the autistic spectrum due to his rage!!!! What do you know about ASD?

TimetohittheroadJack · 06/09/2019 18:01

It isn’t dark just now. Why can’t he drive until 8 ish then you drive the rest of the way?

june2007 · 06/09/2019 18:06

I would tell him that you were upset by him shouting at you and that you sorry you were moaning. If coming homfe from a holiday he too may have been stressed or tired. Faults here on both sides. And those who seem to jusdge you oh mut never raise there voices in a row.

TheStaff · 06/09/2019 20:21

I understand the AS comment. My Mr Nice Guy ASDH loses his rag 0.01 % of the time. But who knows when and what the triggers are. When he does I am frightened, I work in the criminal justice system and see people put in prison for 2 years for what he does. OP you need to stay safe, tell people in RL what happens.
