What products do you think are worth paying more for?

Yesterday I was in Asda on my way back from the school hike and fancied some cherry bakewells. We'd watched them being made a while back on Inside The Factory and never got round to buying any. Anyway, Asda's own we're half the price of Mr Kipling and therefore I thought I'd give them a go. Let's just say I can see why mr Kipling are twice the price! Asda's are rather dry and very crumbly. I won't but them again. Heinz beans are superior too although I hear branston beans are better. I've yet to try them. I'll buy own brand butter happily though.

Knock off weetebix is not good in my experience. Own brand cereals are not as good at all and aldi cereals have been refused by my then 2 yo ds.

Tony's chocolate is amazing!

Knock off baileys from Asda is also amazing! That reminds me, I need to get some from my Christmas box.

@dottydally ooh a weetabix enthusiast like me. I’ve been having it daily since a child and take it on travels. I have perfected my weetabix/milk ratio and so lack of soakage is not an issue. I drink it straight away.

dottydally · 06/09/2019 13:45

@Milomonster yes! I am a very weird weetabix eater though. I don't like milk generally but believe it should be added in order to soften the weetabix. When the weetabix is sufficiently soggy the remaining milk is drained off and I eat the weetabix Blush

God help me when I am trying to tell my future child not to be fussy!

No I cannot justify paying more for the big brands. However I must admit I do have HP sauce (from Poundland I think). I have decaff tea and coffee from LIdl which will do me ok. I normally get loo roll from Lidl if I remember. If running out then I do get the Sainsbury's 9 roll thingy. My flatmate told me Tesco doing a bargain on loo roll at the mo.

I am also not fussy about chocolate so will happily buy the milk or white 30p bar from Lidl.

I only buy bread when on offer or the very cheap wholemeal one from Tesco.

I buy the co-ops basic white sliced toastie. It's 85p I think.

Bread. I'll eat some cheap bread but some I've tried just falls apart in your hands.

Any meats, fish, seafood etc.
Cleaning products
Toilet roll (cannot stand thin toilet paper ,it's also not cost effective)
Kitchen towels
All dairy products including butter & cheeses
Any form of alcoholic drink (though we rarely drink and never buy these from a supermarket)
Green Veg & Fruits
Coffee
Candles.
