CV writing company

Hi
I am looking for a temp role, and I am finding ones that are perfect for me (and I for them, I'd like to think!) but I am not getting my foot in the door.

My CV doesn't stand out, I know that, but I don't know what to do to improve it. I know that I need to really show off and shout about myself but there isn't a lot to shout about. I turned up, did my job and went home. I have nothing quantifiable to say that I made a difference.

So I am thinking about paying someone to have a look at my CV and make it stand out. I've found a web company who are charging me £100 for that but I don't know if that is the going rate. I am looking for a temp role for the moment (2-3 months), and I don't have lots of money that I can throw away for doing this.

Has anyone got any recommendations, or is there a mumsnetter who can help?

Ping it over if you like. I’m quite busy tonight but can have a look at it tomorrow.

If u are applying for temp roles and go through an agency they usually help you with your CV.

Hey. I wouldn’t spend that on a cv writing company. Have you looked at any cv writing books? The library will have some.

My brief advice:

Max 2 pages.
Tweak at least the ‘profile’ at the top for each job.
Each job provide a brief description of the role and spend most space on your achievements and outputs.
Include a 1 page cover letter where you explicitly link your experience to the requirements in the job ad.

Good luck.

There's a few company called I'm Ovar it - she is an ex recruitment agent I believe. Check her out on Instagram, she does it for free!

The only problem with hiring someone is there are so many different ways to construct a cv, and no particular right way. They will know all the common pitfalls but you can find them online for free.
