Help me organise my work (and life) please!

I do freelance work and generally just use ToDo lists on OneNote, but I want to get more organised. Need something with a calendar where I can look at the week/month overview but also schedule tasks/deadlines and daily breakdowns. Also need to be able to add general mundane life stuff and kid related info too.

I know some people swear by Google Calendar, but I just can't get on with it (though am willing to accept I may be somehow doing it wrong Grin ).

Open to suggestions of digital apps and also good old paper and pen solutions. I have a beautiful real leather A5 filofax that has been out of commission for the last few years that I am willing to dust off if it means better productivity. May result in getting sucked into a rabbit hole of amazing stationery/planner inserts etc though Blush

Bullet Journal

I am in awe of the beauty of bullet journalling but is it not very time consuming??

I use an A5 zipped ring binder with a week-to-a-view printed diary. It's only printed one side, so the opposite side is blank for my weekly to-do list.

For a while I had regular to-do lists in poly pockets in another section of the folder then I used a whiteboard pen to tick things off on it and it all wipes off at the end of the week / month / cycle.

Most people think it's very old fashioned but it works for me.

For work-based stuff I use Outlook, if you're consistent with tasks and follow up flags then it's pretty good.

I have started a pen and paper list today. I am easily frustrated by this and have several systems on the go currently

What about using a trello board online?

Nope. It is writing stuff in lists. It's not an art project.

We use Wunderlist for to do list planning shared as a family.

We love Google Calendar for irregular personal tasks.

I'm currently trialling Trello, couple of interesting You Tube videos out there for it.

FairyJuice · 06/09/2019 07:40

Haven't heard of Trello, will have a look thanks Grin

Outlook is good, but unfortunately I'm not good at following up on flags. I think I just prefer analogue systems. Anything digital usually leads to getting distracted by other apps/emails/internet faffing Blush

Spent most of last night obsessing over filofax inserts 🙈

Trello is quite good for managing different projects. I use it for work and home.

Family organizer app? Icon is heart shape with coloured dots in as there are several with similar names. Very good and all family members can join same one. I put reminders for dh to pick up dog poo and it pops up on his phone Grin

I really like any.do because it lets you organise the to-do list by both time and project, and so you can toggle between the two.

burblife · 06/09/2019 15:32

I've just started using the Todoist app and so far it's working well. You can schedule tasks to be completed by certain date/time and can assign them to various family members. I've also got separate 'projects' going so family admin, work and personal stuff are all kept separate.
