Day off work today and enjoying my first child free day after the hols.
I have been to an exercise class (and struggled after the large gap since the last one) I've had a scotch pancake with Nutella and banana with a cappuccino in peace and just Mn-ing and reading my new book till 12.
Then will do an hour of house cleaning, shower then taking my friend out for afternoon tea at 2 for a birthday present.

What's everyone done with their first child free day if you're not working?

Third day back for mine,

Day 1 I had a pounding headache (stress?) so didn’t really make the most of the day.

Yesterday and today I stripped wallpaper.

Meltedicicle · 05/09/2019 16:05

My first day was yesterday. Messed around on Mumsnet and insta for an hour, felt guilty and did some major cleaning and tidying of our attic room which had been an absolute tip, then did some research on doggies as thinking of getting on and read my book!

BiBiBirdie · 05/09/2019 16:09

Well, DH had the day off today (unheard of) so we had a leisurely shag without the fear of child interruption Blush

We then had a late lunch in a pub, got home and was in such a good mood, I made both the children their favourite dinners despite these being two different dinners

I think DH should be off when the DC are at school more often Wink

My DH wfh so I can't laze about with a guilt-free conscience Sad. I dropped DS off in creche, went shopping to get bits and pieces for him. Had lunch out by myself, lovely. Considered a coffee but I don't sleep well with caffeine after lunch. Then picked DS up at about 3.

Bedsidedrawer · 05/09/2019 16:14

I'm a sahm and youngest just started school. I am going to enjoy a guilt free month of doing as I please (reading, naps, exercise, clean house, new recipes, shopping) before embarking on a course with the view to getting back into part time work. Excited!

Whenaretheholidaysover · 05/09/2019 16:21

I had a bath in peace when I got up, then went to Tesco, then went to an appointment, then took a bag of stuff to the charity shop, then went to the bank for my mother, did one load of washing and one dishwasher load, paid a few bills online, made myself some lunch, watched the news in between and been on MN.

That’s more than I thought so I feel better for writing it down! (Maybe not enough cleaning.)

I suggested to dh that we do the same next week but he can't get any more days off now until Christmas Sad

I lazed around on the sofa reading crap on the internet, went for a run, had an uninterrupted shower and a number of leisurely, solo trips to the loo. I feel like a new woman, I tell you.

ladyvimes · 05/09/2019 17:10

I’m off tomorrow. Going to the gym. Do some housework and then do so actual work (am a teacher so it’s either do it tomorrow or Sunday)!

Lovelydovey · 05/09/2019 17:11

Went for a lovely long walk, watched the final episode of handmaids tale and cleaned the living room carpet. Oh and 3 loads of washing!

Flower777 · 05/09/2019 17:13

I’m at home today woohoo!

Kids both back at school today. I’m not working today.

I’m doing housework. Feels kinda good though!

SimonJT · 05/09/2019 17:13

I’m not a stay at home parent but I don’t work Fridays.

Tomorrow I will
Have a lay in (I normally get up an hour early to weight train).
When I have walked him to school I’ll head to the gym for two hours.
After the gym I’m meeting a friend for pizza and a few hours of xbox.

Cannot wait!!!

And now, with tea just having to be dished up, I'm sitting down, feet up, cat on lap, crossword at the ready, with a nice vat glass of wine.

Mummyilovejokes1 · 05/09/2019 17:29

My ds started back at school yesterday then got sick so stayed home today Confused but back tomorrow, i still have the youngest at home until the 16th Sept but once he starts pre school me and another mum intend on hitting the waffle/ice cream shop for a treat Grin after that hasnt had much thought yet. Ellapaella · 05/09/2019 17:32

Day off today. Met friend this morning and took our dogs to the beach together then went for coffee and cake. Came home for lunch, did a bit of piano practice then went out for a bike ride. Did some washing and started a beef stew for tea. Beautiful day here, lovely and sunny.
This is the first time in 17 years that I've had all 3 children at school/college all day and I'm loving it!

formerbabe · 05/09/2019 17:34

Ironing and changed all the beds...watched classic eastenders on the drama channel...worried about my dc.

DustyMaiden · 05/09/2019 17:35

I am a SAHM last one to uni at the end of the month. After that I guess I’ll just be bone idle.

I put up up the Christmas tree today. I’ve taken it down again. Just bought a new one and wanted to see what it looked like.

DreamingofSunshine · 05/09/2019 17:57

This thread is lovely, DS starts nursery on the 16th for 5 mornings a week term time only and I'm looking forward to being able to be a bit more on top of things!

Livebythecoast · 05/09/2019 18:49

@DustyMaiden - I nearly choked on my wine coffee about putting the Christmas tree up. Thank God it was just a trial run!

Mummyilovejokes1 · 05/09/2019 19:08

DD's first day back at school and get a text from them saying they have to close on Thursday for polling in local parish elections!
Not happy!
They apologised for short notice but it's so frustrating as I'd told my boss the day before I wouldn't need any holiday until the end of October!
Plus it's the 2nd time school have done this at short notice this year!

MinnieMountain · 05/09/2019 19:20

My first non-work day will be tomorrow.
I'm having a haircut, then I'm going to have a swim, followed by a leisurely mooch around the library.
After that I'll listen to Radio 4 for a bit or start a new book.
So I don't feel guilty, I shall also tidy up the cutlery drawer and plant some seeds.

Mummyilovejokes1 · 05/09/2019 19:29

Ooh i might start swimming again Smile thanks @MinnieMountain thats prompted me to discuss a swim membership with dp
