Father Christmas doesn't deal in livestock!

I know it's considered too soon by the majority of society ... BUT ...

DD wants a rabbit for Christmas. There's no way she's getting a rabbit, at all, nope!

So, wise people, what're your suggestions for a fantastic substitute gift that will leave her speechless on Christmas morning?

I was thinking Sylvania rabbit family.

Rabbits need to be kept in pairs or groups. Sylvanian Families FTW!

How old is she?

I was expecting this thread to be a debate about whether FC leaves stockings for animals (a much argued point in our house that resulted in me having to fill 5 tiny stockings for our pet ducks).

You know those animatronic/electronic cats that you can get that you put batteries in and they look like they're breathing? (And before anyone rolls their eyes, I've come across them used quite successfully in homes for the elderly where they're not allowed live pets.) Do they do rabbits in the same range?

Or could you sponsor a rabbit at the local pet rescue, or something? I know ours has "cat cuddling" (well, that's what they called it when I used to volunteer there, they now have a truly terrifying and very posh co-ordinator and it's now been retitled "spending time with the cats").

Just a thought!

Father Christmas does not bring pets, because he makes the toys.
How old is she? And where are you? Dd loved doing a junior zoo keeper thing at chessington.

I just imagined my cats in stockings and suspenders... then I realised what was meant.

Father Christmas absolutely leaves presents for our cats (he may have forgotten the year of our PFB's 1st Christmas though).

She'll be almost 3 at Christmas but she's had the memory of an elephant and stubbornness of a mule since she was an ovum!!

Brilliant! That's what I need to add "doesn't deal in livestock because he makes the toys".

We live on a farm and have a cat that's got a history of bringing wild rabbits home for dinner.

Bumping for more ideas.

I don't know if I should have found the cat thing funny but I did (we live in a semi-rural setting by the sea and our little blighters have recently brought us assorted birds, frogs, a couple of butterflies and two VERY large caterpillars). I'm just waiting for the inevitable seagull.

I was thinking of something like www.amazon.co.uk/Fifi-Bunny-Electronic-Rabbit-Playset/dp/B0759LCN9B?tag=mumsnetforu03-21 or www.jellycat.com/bunny/?page=2 (okay, that one might have been inspired by the fact we were at a garden centre today with a really nice Jellycat stand). Or a nice fleece or snuggly onesie, or slippers and dressing gown? (A friend got me a lovely throw for my birthday with a raccoon photo printed on it....)

Um, Santa doesn't deal in livestock because the reindeer might get jealous??? (Or, um, they might eat the rabbits? Or, um, the rabbits might eat the carrots???)
