Night sweats - any experience of non-menopausal night sweats being resolved?

I used to get night sweats occasionally. Then I had children in 2016 and got them a LOT after. Assumed it was my body flushing out. But they’ve never stopped. My side of the bed constantly stinks and is damp; unless I change the sheets - and possibly buy a new mattress - every day 🙄. The smell isn’t BO, it’s an odd stale smell. The sweats themselves are excessive - look like i’ve had a shower.
I’m currently 39, and over a year ago they tested me for everything to try and find a reason - multiple bloods, hormones, menopause, TB, a wee test for a certain type of cancer (not sure what), then they kinda gave up and said there’s not always a reason. They’re exhausting me - I feel so drained!
I noticed the only time they don’t happen is when I stay somewhere else...? Coincidence??

I have them - I try really hard to keep cool at night. I'm deficient in vitamin D (on supplements) but I don't know why I get them. Horrible.

Wool duvet helps and think about the mattress you've got...

My gynae treats menopause/ peri according to symptoms, not blood tests. Have you tried HRT? Can you get a referral to gynae or endocrinology?

Did they test thyroid levels? Also as Baggy says, current NHS guidance is to treat perimenopause on symptoms alone (partly because hormone levels fluctuate so wildly during peri that false results from blood tests are very common)

39 sounds like the early side of normal for peri though - you don't happen to know what age your mum went through the menopause? (Age of menopause seems to be strongly heritable).

Practical tips: no to foam mattress. Separate sets of bedclothes on your and your DH's sides of the bed (I know a few middle aged couples who have separate single duvets, an 11 tog on his side and a 4 tog on hers.

I find sheet and light cellular wool blanket works best for me. Also layers that can be cast off as the bed warms up.

Oh, and another top tip I've only recently picked up from MN. Wash bedding/cotton t-shirts on the 60 degree cycle, using a pre-wash with a capful of white spirit vinegar. It gets rid of the horrible musty smell.

It was endocrinology who ran multiple tests, then discharged me...

V. Interesting. I was low vit D a few years ago and I supplemented up until recently - haven’t seen any variance in night sweats though, and was using a good (liquid) supplement

They did test my thyroid, yes. Really interesting on the mattress points - this could tie in with us getting a new mattress a few years ago. Although we use a feather filled topper anyway?! And I swear with or without that being on. (It’s often not ok because it’s in the wash 🙄)

@nachosTrafficante i’m Only on my third night of my new wool bedding, but dare I say no night sweats so far! After three years this is nearly too good to be true - thanks for the tip and fingers crossed!
