How often do you buy DP little gifts?

I'm on the train home with a bunch of flowers for DP because they're having a tough day. I surprise them with little things (under £10) maybe once or twice a month, just because I love buying gifts Blush

How often do you buy your DP little presents 'just because'?

Er, almost never. It's hard enough buying him things for his birthday/ Christmas/ Father's Day and working out what to get. I used to sometimes buy him some chocolate that I thought he would like but he stopped eating chocolate. If I did see something and we could afford it, I would but that rarely happens.

hownowredcow · 03/09/2019 18:06

Not enough!

He gets me bits and pieces all the time. Edible!

I need to up my game actually.

broccccoli · 03/09/2019 18:08

£10 is a bit more than usual actually, I find a £2 bag of m&s Percy pigs is usually a winner Grin

hownowredcow - edible gifts are the best kind I think Grin

Never as he spends on average £200 a month on ebay buying rubbish for his motorbikes

bookishtartlet · 03/09/2019 18:11

We will often buy each other a sweet treat or little stationery bits. Once a weekish? I love it.

Ker100 · 03/09/2019 18:11

I used to loads in the early years of our relationship- little things that made me think of him or that I thought he'd love.

Now, post kids, I rarely do. Possibly because I don't like him as much as I used to Grin

BackseatKnitter · 03/09/2019 18:15

I used to but he never showed any sign of liking them/appreciation and never reciprocated so now I spend my money on my lovely little DD Grin

Newmumma83 · 03/09/2019 18:18

Not often enough but his idea of a gift costs around £100, I do make sure he has his favourite fruits in and cut them up for him, and put them in pots in fridge so he has no effort as he loves Fruit he ate £7 worth in two days last week ... my food bill is crazy 😜

Occasionally buy sweets.

Make a sandwich for him to eat even when he is working from home and could make it himself ( he wouldn’t though he would just be clawing at me for dinner when I get in 😂)

Newmumma83 · 03/09/2019 18:19

I did buy him some beard moisturiser I spotted yesterday as he has dry skin ... does that count?

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 03/09/2019 18:20

Once in a while I leave a packet of sweets on the dashboard of his car as a surprise...

EmpressJewel · 03/09/2019 18:21

Not often.

I normally buy purposefully, so if I know that OH needs or wants something, then I will buy it.

ChikiTIKI · 03/09/2019 18:27

We quite often surprise each other, usually with things like making pancakes for breakfast, a chocolate bar here and there, running each other a bath, that kind of thing.

I don't know about "love languages" but my friend said that mine and my husbands is the one where we do nice things for each other.

Even if we don't have many treats in the house, bringing him a sliced up apple is a nice treat compared to an un-sliced one and doing it makes me feel good too :)

Ohmywhatabigegoyouhave · 03/09/2019 18:34

Often. Quite often if I shop for me he gets something. I put thought into most meals cooked for him so they’re to his taste and he will enjoy them - little things like that. BUT he has never bought me a bunch of flowers!!! Will splash out on a v-expensive gift often though, but it’s the little ones that mean the most personally, though the luxuries are also very very nice 😁! (I do like flowers though)

broccccoli · 03/09/2019 18:35

I love all of these - totally get what you mean about feeling good doing stuff for your DP, even if it's tiny if it makes them smile it's worth it Blush but then again, I am a big softie HmmGrin

@ChikiTIKI agree - doing that little extra makes all the difference in a relationship I think. Like I put a clean towel, boxers and a pair of socks in the bathroom for him each morning. I didn’t do it for a couple of days and he noticed and was a little upset I had fallen out of love with him 😂 so it speaks!

Woodlandwitch · 03/09/2019 18:36

Some months nothing some mo the lord. Just depends on what I see at the time or if he ever mentions something which I can then get for him

A bag of Percy pigs goes down a storm always and also when I bake some cakes on my day off.

Otherwise it might be music I know he likes or a T-shirt

Catmar · 03/09/2019 18:36

Never these days. I used to in the early days but soon found out he had no interest in presents (either giving or receiving). I wish he would buy me presents.

Woodlandwitch · 03/09/2019 18:37

I always order a treat for him on the weekly shop too (which he shares with me of course)
Usually a £1 box of Maltesers or the special cider I know he likes

teenagetantrums · 03/09/2019 18:38

Acutally never. I feel quite bad when l think about it. My DP brings homes flowers. My favourite good and other random stuff all the time. I will try harder l think

teenagetantrums · 03/09/2019 18:39

Food not goid

expatinspain · 03/09/2019 18:43

Rarely, maybe if I go on a trip or something. We do tend to get each other thoughtful/nice things on birthdays & xmas, but that's it. I do it for DD though. I always see little things for her and buy them!

TeaForTara · 03/09/2019 18:43

If I buy a pack of Carling when I do the grocery shopping, he's happy. Occasionally (when they're on offer - or very occasionally for no reason) I'll buy him a premium lager or one of the Belgian beers he likes as well.

He never buys me anything.

fussychica · 03/09/2019 19:00

Never. Thankfully we are both the same about gifts and after 40 odd years together birthdays and Christmas present enough of a challenge Grin. We usually shop together these days so we just buy what we want like gin, wine, flowers, clothes etc

DM1209 · 03/09/2019 19:02

My DP is going to come home today after a long commute back from his very stressful and busy (but he loves it) job to a bunch of flowers that I have had delivered and left on his porch by a local florist (he's in the south and I'm in the north). Reason? Absolutely none just to say 'I love you' and to make him smile. He's definitely worth it.
