Boring school painting apron question..

My DS is now starting school, we’ve been given a letter that states he needs a painting apron made to be left at school. A old large shirt customised so it can be worn backwards with a loop to hang it up.

I don’t have a sewing machine and am terrible at anything like this, also I don’t even own any shirts so would have to go out and buy a new one. So is there any reason to as why I can’t just buy him a sleeved painting apron for a few pounds on eBay and send that in for him?

I wouldn't have thought so. They are probably suggesting an old shirt so that people don't feel obliged to go out and buy one.

We use old shirts with rolled up sleeves turned the wrong way round for smocks at home. Maybe that’s what they meant?

Charity shop shirt or ask if anyone has a spare, save money and not more plastic

Most men’s shirts have a loop at the back for this between the shoulder blades

It’s easier to do the same as others, it’s hard at that age following directions in class for the first time and often they rely on looking and copying. It harder than when 1:1 and even confident ones need it

I live in the middle of know where with no charity shop close buy, also I don’t have any old tops/shirts or anyone that I could get one from.

I’ve just dug out the craft box and found a painting apron so I’ll just send that in for him and hopefully it’s ok!
