Okay, if you saw this written, what would you take it to mean? Seen in my local paper, not sure yet if I'm interested Grin

"Good spelling person wanted.

To Print in my home. Hand written stories."

I would think they were looking for an editing to spell check etc their hand written short stories.

saffy1234 · 02/09/2019 20:39

An Editor even xx

Go to their house and type up their memoirs or whatever. Probably loads of grammar edits too, and vocabulary errors. Possibly someone with English as a second language? Quite hard work I’d say.

BreakfastAtLitanies · 02/09/2019 21:09

They're offering £10 p/h! I'm quite tempted, as a poor student Grin I have a regular part time job but a bit of extra can't hurt!

If it’s at their house and it’s a bloke and it’s his fantasy porn - be careful!

BreakfastAtLitanies · 03/09/2019 09:20

@FredaFrogspawn You make an excellent point. I'll call first and find out more I think Grin

the fact theyve written the add like that most likely means that english is not their mother tongue. Id assume youd be reading through something or other theyve written, to check the grammar/spelling/ to see if it makes sense lol. Sounds like a decent little job, not sure how long youd be needed for for that though

crazylady7 · 03/09/2019 10:57

ad* lol maybe english isnt my mother tongue!

thecatneuterer · 03/09/2019 11:15

Well if that's how they write they don't need a proof-reading typist, they want a ghost writer (or more likely they just need to forget the whole ludicrous idea).

If it's just typing up hand-written pages then surely that wouldn't need to be done in their own home. So either it's something dodgy, or the whole thing will be so indecipherable and impenetrable that a long and tortuous discussion will be needed for every sentence to stand a chance of understanding what they really wanted to say (bitter experience - I've done this three times in past for university friends writing their dissertations - it was hell).

Do find out more and update [nosey].

Zaphodsotherhead · 03/09/2019 13:10

Maybe you don't have to work in their home but they want someone to type up handwritten stories so that THEY can print them in their own home.

If they are elderly and not very techie, they may not realise that you can do this on your own laptop and email it over for them to print themselves. They may think you have to physically be there to print it out.

BreakfastAtLitanies · 04/09/2019 12:58

I ended up trying to call them. No answer! Shame really, I was curious as to what kind of stories these were Sad
