Because I do. Or did...

I have no fear of ‘darking’

Or of spider willies

But something laid eggs on my tee shirt last night Shock

Never again.

My mum popped in to check the house while we were away and did a quick towel wash the day before we were back. (I did not ask her to) it’s still hanging on the line now as this is what frightens me. I hate hanging clothes out on the line it may smell nicer but I absolutely hate spiders or any kind of insects. It have to wait till DH gets home Smile

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 04/09/2019 11:20

It will have*

Bookworm4 · 04/09/2019 11:20

Only a slattern leaves their washing out overnight!! My granny will be whirling in her grave!!!

Skyejuly · 04/09/2019 11:26

Omg. Never again.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 04/09/2019 11:28

Ohh. Are they insects or arachnids?

Otterseatpuffinsdontthey · 04/09/2019 11:28

Think spider eggs are white/ usually wrapped webbing material ?

ILikeyourHairyHands · 04/09/2019 11:28

They look insecty.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 04/09/2019 11:29

I'm impressed that you left them there in the interests of scientific enquiry OP.

Soubriquet · 04/09/2019 11:30

What on Earth are they?!!!

I tried to tell my dh about the horror of spiders rubbing their willies on washing if you left it out all night.

I got this in return HmmHmm

springydaff · 04/09/2019 11:57

My washing is regularly 'darked on'. Routinely darked on.

I'd find it fascinating if something did that to my clothes and I'd watch with interest to see what it became, happily giving up the tee-shirt if need be.

DappledThings · 04/09/2019 12:02

When it's really hot I regularly put a wash on in the evening and hang it out around 9pm so it gets the best of the daytime sun when I'm at work.

Am I weird in that I actually prefer a stiff, line-drive towel? It feels cleaner than a soft one!

mollycoddle77 · 04/09/2019 13:59

So what are they, please, I need to know!!!???

FrancesFlute · 04/09/2019 14:30

I am so not doing this again Sad

SarahAndQuack · 04/09/2019 14:42

I do. I have no issue with insect eggs.

FWIW, my clothes line is strung across my veg patch, and even on days when it's been so hot everything dries within an hour or so, I still sometimes found unexpected visitors. The best was when I unpegged a sheet, draped it over my shoulder, and took it in, only for an entire cloud of butterflies to flap up into my kitchen! It took ages getting them out again!

No, I love this too. Nothing like a nice crisp towel. The soft ones feel ... used.

SapphireSeptember · 04/09/2019 14:48

I once found a snail in my sock (my washing had been out for a while, I forgot to bring them it in.) I still wonder how the hell it got in there! Still left my washing to get darked on after that. (Now I dry it indoors on a clothes horse, my room gets the sun and I leave the window open, so it dries really quickly and less chance of bugs or bird poo.)

Nicolastuffedone · 04/09/2019 14:50

Never.

SamBeckett · 04/09/2019 14:55

EEKK! I regularly leave washing outside overnight in fact my current washing has been on the line since the early hours of Sunday morning.
I will inspect every square inch before bringing it in.

mollyblack · 04/09/2019 15:18

Surely things could lay eggs in the day as well?

Lindy2 · 04/09/2019 15:28

I had a bumble bee go to sleep inside a trouser leg once. That was after daytime drying so no being darked on or spider willies involved.

Congratulations OP on the birth of your little baby things.

DarkLikeVader · 05/09/2019 11:50

Maybe it’s coincidence it happened over night... I don’t mind spider and the occasional ladybird but not whatever these hatchlings were.

FWIW I prefer a line dried towel too. It’s an extra exfoliation really!

I say we’re as after flapping the t shirt outside I put it on a boil wash. Twice.

Are you still incubating eggs in a jar, op? Has anything hatched yet?

RockySpeed · 05/09/2019 12:03

@DappledThings I LOVE a crispy line dried towel! My favorite kind

Glad I'm not the only one. Its only the crispy ones that make my skin tingle a.bit and feel really clean!
