Party activities for four year olds

DD will soon be 4 and I’ve booked a hall and the obligatory bouncy castle, and we’ll do food/tea and coffee and cake for the adults.

Now looking at what else we can do - DD is unicorn crazy and loves crafts. Do you think something like this (paint at the party then take home effectively as a party bag) would work? Or mad to try with a bunch of excited 4 year olds? www.bakerross.co.uk/unicorn-ceramic-coin-banks?refSrc=128786&nosto=you-might-also-like

Or could do colour in masks? Or make dream catchers?

Keen to do something that the kids might actually want to keep, and would happily order little money boxes or something rather than party bag tat.

Also as a parent would you be ok with festival glitter instead of face paint? (biodegradable and eco friendly before anyone worries about that!) My face painting skills aren’t up to much but I could definitely do glitter...

I’d be fine with festival glitter.
You could also do:
Pin the Tail on the Unicorn.
Treasure hunt
Homemade bowling alley with drinks-bottle skittles

We did fabric paints twice as party activities, once a bag the other a T-Shirt but the girls were a bit older when we did the shirt.

If you attempt any kind of paint involved please tell the parents. Otherwise there may be tears when a party frock is ruined.

I also drew a line at 6 girls so DH and I could help and rescue disasters. If you can get a friend to stay and help out that would be good for crafts.

Glitter is fine, it will be washed of a couple of hours later anyway.

Painting money boxes sounds great. Glitter face paint is a yes. Don't do dream catchers my daughter and I made one and it was really hard.
Pass the parcel. Musical islands - like musical bumps but you have to end up standing on a piece of newspaper. (Take one away each time to get someone out). Have a fab time.

My son had the glitter thing done a while ago, just be careful as he rubbed his face and managed to get it in his eyes which was quite painful.

At one of DD's parties where we had a bouncy castle I also set up a table with blank paper bags and glitter/sequins etc as a make your own party bag. They do do this on their own if pooped from bouncy castle or as an ice breaker when they arrive. I then filled them while they were eating their party lunch I think.
Also if you have any helpful teenagers, e.g. cousins who will do it for a bit of money or chocolate, you could get them set up with glitter/stick on tattoos it's so easy and all the kids love it, it also frees you up so you're not stuck to an activity.

Ooh - pin the tail on the unicorn sounds fun!

For the money boxes I’m now - taking on board the very valid ruined dresses point - thinking of ceramic pens (so basically fancy felt tips) rather than actual paint which should hopefully control the mess level a bit...

LOVE the decorate your own party bag idea!

V good point about glitter and eyes Simon, will reconsider that...

Thanks all - I’m excited about this party!
