How deep is your bath?

I have a bath about once a month and when I do it's because I want the intense warmth and coziness - it's not about the washing!

Soaking earlier today, I found myself guiltily adding more hot water as it wasn't deep enough.

How deep is enough though? What's a reasonable balance between the need not to waste water, and the urge to have a good long soak?

How deep is your bath?

I can’t be the only one singing “how deep is your bath” in a bee gees style voice?!

Trimummy3 · 01/09/2019 21:03

I like my baths hot and deep. So it covers almost everything. And I do regular top ups! I love radox green bubble bath.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/09/2019 21:03

Ha! I came on to say exactly the same thing!

Sorry, Bucking. No use whatsoever.

Nonstopbuttmachine · 01/09/2019 21:07

I really need to know?

BlackberriesAndCream · 01/09/2019 21:13

Mine is awful! New build, with a 'water saving' bath, as I discovered too late. Suitable for bathing a child, maybe, but not a nice deep soak for an adult.

I'd not realised that baths came in such different depths and just assumed it was a regular one til i tried it.

I don't know what the normal depth is, or how you search for a lovely deep one that would still fit in the same space. it's really irritating as I miss a nice deep soak.

AdmiralSirArchibald · 01/09/2019 21:23

Right to the top, Radox blue. Sometimes I have two baths a day... also singing the beegees...

Fancyaruck · 01/09/2019 21:23

Deeper than the ridiculously low overflow on our bath allows, grrr.

Ginspiration · 01/09/2019 21:28

For those with low overflows!

When we had the bathroom done we inadvertently got a small bath.

It fits me perfectly, it's just the right length depth slope so I can lie back without sliding down.

It was only when dh tried that we realised he literally doesn't fit in it! Oops. He's a shower man anyway.

I fill it up but it's not that big iyswim do don't feel too bad.

Soak in a properly filled bath is luxurious imo

INeedToThrowItAllOut · 01/09/2019 22:00

If you feel guilty about adding hot water to a bath, you need to take a cold shower. Jesus wept.

To answer your question, enough hot water to cover my body up to the shoulders so nothing but my head and neck are sticking out.

Seriously though - if you have guilt about this kind of thing you sound bizarrely over anxious about trivia. If it bothers you that much, stop having baths and start doing that weirdo flannel washing the keeno water savers do.

shinynewapple · 01/09/2019 22:33

Lol @Trimummy3 that was my first thought too Grin

BuckingFrolics · 01/09/2019 22:37

Ah you lot, you're just jive talking.

I'll fill my baths a little deeper in future

I got the deepest bath i could lovely to soak in. Not brill for my back to bath baby in now though!

ElizaPancakes · 01/09/2019 23:39

I rarely have a bath, but when I do I’m not ever thinking about not wasting water. We have a combi boiler so we don’t run out of hot water.

BizzzzyBee · 01/09/2019 23:46

I rarely get the chance for a bath, so when I do, I fill it as deep as possible. In terms of saving water your bath is negligible considering the amount that’s lost through leaks and industrial wastage etc. If you’re that bothered you can use it to water the garden afterwards!

I purposely bought the deepest bath possible with no overflow, and when the plumber drilled the hole for the overflow I got him to put it as high as he possibly could. I still miss my childhood bath which was cast iron and had no overflow at all.

BlackberriesAndCream · 02/09/2019 08:10

Ive tried the overflow covers but they don't work that well, and with my super shallow bath, it's still not deep enough to soak - and the water is about an inch from the top, so easy to slosh over!!

pickingdaisies · 02/09/2019 08:14

A water saving bath??? Sheesh. We're living in a world of fools.

BuckingFrolics · 02/09/2019 08:18

But the world belongs to you and me

Right up to the overflow, which is only just deep enough. I rarely have baths though, I'm more of a shower person.

Lucafritz · 02/09/2019 08:28

I have a hot hot bath once a week as a treat and i fill it almost to the brim and soak for ages in it i have spent at a least 3hrs in the bath sometimes soaking then exfoliating then shaving etc feels amazing getting out all smooth and shiny after Grin i don't think a shower cleans as well as a good long soak does but then again i know people who are the opposite and think baths are dirty and don't get you clean Confused

1066vegan · 02/09/2019 09:00

I usually have a shower in the mornings as it's quicker and uses less water. I'm even more reluctant to have a bath since we went onto a water meter.

As baths are now a rare treat, if I do have one I like to really fill it up and have a good soak.
