A mosquito probably, they look bigger than flea or gnat bites.
I woke up with several on my arm this morning.
Currently itching like mad.

HattieMcNastie · 01/09/2019 01:57

They are so itchy.
I cannot sleep at all.

Do you know anything I can buy to stop the itching please?

Any oral antihistamine and a topical bite and sting cream too.

Instead of scratching try patting the area, scratching will lead to them getting infected.

PicpouldePinet · 01/09/2019 02:14

Bed bugs?

rubberduckyyouretheone · 01/09/2019 02:20

Chigger Bites? Looks like mine with the red dot in the centre.

salsmum · 01/09/2019 02:24

What actually are chiggers please? I was covered when I went to Memphis 2 years ago everyone said chigger bites I didn't have a clue how or where I'd got bitten.

Tartyflette · 01/09/2019 02:25

I use an ibuprofen gel with levomenthol in it-- the menthol cools the area and the ibuprofen takes the inflammation down.
It's called Deep Relief, it's generally for sprains and muscle ache but it works well on bites for me. (just spread a thin layer over the bite, don't rub it in)
The antihistamine creams don't seem to have any effect on me. I can't take oral antihistamines. Sometimes a paracetamol tablet can work too.

rubberduckyyouretheone · 01/09/2019 02:30

Salsmum my phone is crap and I can't link sorry. If I walk on grass I get eaten alive.

Tartyflette · 01/09/2019 02:30

Are you in the UK, OP?
If so I don't think we get chiggers here, but they are common in some areas of the U.S.

Tartyflette · 01/09/2019 02:34

www.healthline.com/health/chigger-bites
This seems to be a US site from the spelling and terminology - favorite hiking trail, fall, backyard etc.

Thesuzle · 01/09/2019 02:38

The hot teaspoon method .. dip spoon in boiling water, dry quickly. Then press the back of the spoon on a bite, hold it there for as long as you can stand. It kills the sting in the bite

rubberduckyyouretheone · 01/09/2019 02:38

We do get them. Harvest Mites is a type of chigger.

waltzingparrot · 01/09/2019 02:46

Try putting toothpaste on to kill the itch. Worked on mosquito bites .

moffles · 01/09/2019 04:25

This sounds stupid but for some reason, washing mosquito bites in cold water straight up eradicates the itching for me. Shock

adaline · 01/09/2019 07:28

Talcum powder helps itching for me - no idea why!

HattieMcNastie · 01/09/2019 15:40

Thanks everyone.

I've bought some sting cream.

Bites in lines can indicate bed bugs. Check your mattress for black dots or tiny blood stains.
