So I’m failing at lots of things - I still have to drive (a hybrid) as there’s no public transport to work and I’m not giving up electricity and heating! But I’ve been utterly shocked by the rate of climate change - things happening that I thought my kids or their kids would be dealing with are happening now.

So here are the changes I’m making
I’m carbon offsetting - monthly DD to the Woodland trust’s carbon offset scheme
I’m just going to stop buying so much STUFF - my house is overflowing with stuff and i don’t need any more
Reduce my meat, especially red meat, consumption.
Using Ecosia as my search engine
I’m a terrible gardener, but am thinking of putting in some raised beds so we can grow some veg and herbs to reduce food miles.
Got reusable plastic lids to go on bowls etc instead of cling film
Metal straws instead of plastic
Swapping over to bars of soap instead of plastic bottles
We already recycle everything our local council will take and take our own bags shopping etc.

What other changes are people making that can make a difference?

Washable sanitary pads and a mooncup for zero waste periods.
Reusable water bottle and coffee cup.
Not flying, holidaying in the UK.

To be honest I'm terrified for my children's future and fear it's already too late.
I'm doing what I can so I know I've done all I can to help even if it doesn't.

Climate change is a con. The climate changed before during and after the last ice age, and that had nothing to do with humans.

Carbon offsetting is also a myth, it doesn't achieve anything. The planet is fine, just fine, we as a species are in trouble, and I suspect won't be around much longer.

It makes no difference what car you drive, how much you "recycle", or what brand of "organic, dolphin friendly, hypoallergenic" shampoo you use.

We will kill ourselves long before we do any irrevocable damage to the planet.

Are you on Facebook? Journey to zero waste uk is a great (albeit terrifying) resource.

Fancy seeing you here, Mr Trump! How I wish I could believe this.

Second hand clothes. People throw out really nice things.

Well you could be right about that. And I suspect once humans have gone, climate change would begin to reverse.
