DeLonghi bean to cup machine. There are a couple of models.

Sage/ breville duo temp pro.

I have the barista express and love it.

What are sage and de longhi like buildwise and quality of coffee. Had our heavy old style Gaggia for years, heartbroken it’s broken. What it to be very reliable and excellent coffee.

What are these cleaning sachets with de longhi that cost a fortune.

Dunno anything about cleaning sachets. Doesn’t quality of coffee depend very much on personal preference? Our machine has settings for extra mild, mild, standard, strong, extra strong coffee. We use Colombian beans, strength 5.

The machine sits on the work top, not massively obtrusive and the kettle is pretty much redundant.

I like Sage. If I ever win the lottery I'm buying me an Oracle.

There are less expensive models though. I think it depends how you like your milk and whether you prefer automation or more control.

I’ve had my sage for about a year and no issues yet.

There is lots of functionality. I think they’re classed as a semi auto machines. You can fiddle about with a few settings or just let the machine do it all it’s self.

When our Gaggia broke we got the Delonghi bean to cup - it's been brilliant.

Knitclubchatter · 31/08/2019 17:24

My husband has a Rancillio lives it, matching grinder as well.

After years of nursing our gagging classic along I finally replaced it with a De'Longhi dedica it makes great coffee and is a great price

VitreousHumour · 31/08/2019 17:50

Sage duo temp has been fantastic. Build quality is so much better than others at that price point and the brushed steel looks good.

VitreousHumour · 31/08/2019 17:52

but!! Do also get a good burr grinder too, properly adjustable. It will make a huge difference.

Moo5ele55 · 31/08/2019 18:23

Those were the two brands we’re looking at do that’s helpful, which to choose? Imperfect that’s what I loved about the Gaggia it was so sturdy and reliable, you could change parts to nurse it along. Don’t think the new ones are as good looking at reviews.Sad

I bought mine from Gaggia UK as a reconditioned model. I specifically asked for an earlier model, which still was the sturdy type (pre 2015). So its an option!

We have a Sage smart grinder pro and then use a V60/Chemex to make pour over filter coffee using a hario pouring kettle.

DP (who is a barista) did have a Gaggia espresso machine but he said you just can't get the right pressure in the machine to produce a proper espresso at home so we stick to filter and it's great! Really quick too. We also have a fancy and very precise scale with a timer on it to time the pour over precisely.

I'll admit that it's handy that where he works is also a coffee roastery so we always have the freshest and best beans too Halo

When we were in this situation we were recommended this one -

I absolutely love it and my friend who bought the de longhi equivalent covets one like it .
