I'm a bit woe is me. I've pulled a muscle in my back. Childbirth was less painful ( joke) I can't sit , stand or lie down properly. Not sure how I've done it either 😕
Taking the usual pain killers cold compress but fuck me , It hurts to breathe. Nearly woke my partner up last night as my back had gone into spasm to take me a&e for gas and air! Off to the chemist to see what I can buy over the counter as nearly run out of my hard core pain killers.
Must add, I'm a hcp so one of the worse patients you can get.

Try a TENS machine, you can buy a cheapies one at most pharmacies, that should take the edge of it and the pain tablets will help. Alternating hot and cold packs also help.

Deep heat do stick on pads - both hot and cold. Wilko do cheaper versions. Voltarol.

Thanks for the speedy replies. I don't think I can use a tens machine as I'm epileptic. Tried a heat pad thingy last night but preferred the cold gel. Going to try and sleep in the spare room tonight as bed has an ortho mattress.

This was me 3 weeks ago! The only way I could be comfortable was to lay in the floor with my knees bent. Standing was awful. Sitting induced spasms. And I know what you mean: they are very intense and took my breathe away.
My osteopath told me to ice the spot for a t least 20 mins at a time, maybe 5 times a day.
And, if you can, just lie on your back in the floor, bend your knees so your feet are close to your bum and then gently push your hips up and raise your bum off the floor. Do a few times and then move your feet a little further away from your bum, and repeat.
It took me a week to recover.
You have my total sympathy Thanks

Oh and anti inflammatory pain meds, so ibuprofen, if you can.

Thanks foo can I ask how long it was till your back felt better. I spend half my time kneeling on the floor doing leg dressing

A week at least. Sorry, that's probably not what you want to hear.
Moving is good, I walked (slowly) as much as I could and once the spasms had subsided I went swimming (although it was best when I swam in my back with a float as breaststroke made my back arch).
Take it easy. Breathe through the spasms and remember that they are just trying to protect your poor damaged back - although I just swore whilst they happened!!!
