Anyone know how to read blood pressure readings?

Mine is 112 over 68. Pulse is 83.

I feel dizzy, and quite light headed. I also feel a bit tight chested and I feel as if I'm breathing heavier than normal. I also have nausea and slight fatigue. I honestly just feel like I'll collapse some of the time, but I constantly feel a bit faint. This is all within the last 3/4 days.

Can anyone read between the lines and say if these readings are definitely healthy or are they borderline low at all?

I'm surprised Google seems to say they're normal. It definitely feels like I've got a low blood pressure.

They are normal readings. It may be that it is low for you hence why you are feeling unwell?

Soontobe60 · 31/08/2019 10:01

It’s normal

NoNoNoOohmaybe · 31/08/2019 10:02

Normal but might not be normal for you.

Are you anxious? Or could be anaemia?

I don't feel at all anxious, just a bit baffled as to why I feel suddenly debilitated like this.

Taking breaths seems more laboured than usual etc

I feel dizzy and spacey. It's awful.

I thought anaemia caused low blood pressure so if no low blood pressure then no anaemia?

Have you actually got anaemia?

GreenOrBlue · 31/08/2019 10:10

Wrong no, not that I know of. Although I've had it in the past

Just taken another reading and it's saying...

124 over 56

Anaemia doesn't cause low blood pressure. Are you drinking plenty? I have low bp eg 90/50mmhg and have to drink at least 4 litres per day in order to stop me from feeling faint.

Your blood pressure is completely within the normal range, though it might not be normal for you. Do you know what a normal BP is for you?

Do you take any medication that might cause these symptoms that you are having?

Do your symptoms ease of you lay down? Have you measured your no sitting and standing? Is there a difference in the 2 measurements?

Sounds like it could be anemia. Blood pressure is normal

FaithInfinity · 31/08/2019 10:15

That’s a normal blood pressure (I’m a nurse). Below 110 systolic (top number) is officially low. I’d advise you stop taking your blood pressure! No anaemia doesn’t automatically cause low blood pressure. I’m anaemia and my blood pressure is normal. My anaemia causes me to be breathless on exertion but I’m okay generally, I get a lot of headaches and I feel tired a lot despite sleeping well. If you are breathless it could be that you have a chest infection instead? No-one can diagnose via the Internet though. You should seek medical attention if you’ve been feeling like this for several days.
Can you try to get seen in Out of Hours?

polkadotpixie · 31/08/2019 10:17

Blood pressure is normal. Mine sits around 100/60

You could definitely be anaemic though, I felt very breathless when I was although my B12 was also low

Get them to test both

GreenOrBlue · 31/08/2019 11:14

I'm currently at work (healthcare setting) and just checked my hemo Level (you prick your finger and put the blood sample in this little machine).

It's 11.1 so slightly anaemic, which I suppose is making me feel this way!

blood pressure chart.

if you are using a machine I wouldn't trust the reading, get it done properly if you are worried.

Anyone know how to read blood pressure readings?

I would definitely recommend getting some proper medical advice rather than self-diagnosing!
