I have to hang around at Liverpool Street or nearby for four hours this afternoon with 2 boys 8 and 6. What can I do with them that is free or cheap?

Take a bus or Tube (Central line) to Bethnal Green and visit the nearby Museum of Childhood.

Spitalfields market is a short walk. Bethnal Green close.

Or tbh you can be lots of places on the tube in 20-30 mins so you could still have 2-3 hours somewhere else in London.

Museum of London at the Barbican. 15/20 mins walk

Spitalfields market!

I second Museum of London - free, 15 minutes walk away

St Paul’s cathedral just two stops on the central line away. 10 mins max or a half an hour leisurely walk through the City taking in the Bank of England and royal exhange too. The City will be quiet as it’s a Saturday, so nice for a stroll and the cathedral has nice grounds where you can stop for a drink / snack. From there you can walk over the “wibbly wobbly” bridge (millennium bridge) and get a good view over the Thames in both directions. From memory a good view of Tower Bridge.

All very do-able at a leisurely pace and shouldn’t be too crowded.

Thank you @Fudgenugget. Perfect.

Museum of London is walking distance (or tube to Barbican) and much much better than museum of childhood
