What other jobs could I do / train for?

My background is in admin and education - I have taught TEFL and been a TA in primary schools. Over the years I have also done lots of admin and am currently a school
administrator. In all of this I was also a SAHM but my dc are now teens.

I am desperate for a change however - what could I do? I don’t mind some retraining - that I could do in the evenings.

I am calm, sociable but fairly introverted, have an eye for detail, speak two European languages. Not sure what else really.

Any suggestions? I need to make more money than I am currently making and also need to get away from admin if I can! I am good at some aspects of it, but other parts overwhelm me. I don’t want to train to be a school teacher.

Interpreter?

Study for your AAT and look into bookkeeping / route into accountancy? Not particularly lucrative at the beginning but more so if you go on to qualify

Thanks for the suggestions - I have thought about translating and interpreting but don’t know if there would be enough demand for Italian and French? Also not sure how suited I would be to being self-employed.

Regarding the accounting - numbers aren’t really my strength. Now it’s going to seem that I am turning down suggestions Smile.

I wouldn’t mind working in the education department of a museum but am not sure how to make the move?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks a lot Smile.

I'm a translator. There's plenty of work out there if you're canny, quick and good, but there are also a loooottttt of bottom feeders too. My first port of call would be to watch a bunch of "how to get started in translation" videos on youtube.

You wouldn't have to be self-employed as a translator, though most are. You could work in an agency. Feel free to PM me if you like. You don't strictly need an MA to get started but doing one would probably be a good foot in the door. Maybe even consider doing a distance one to keep costs down.
