Dead wasps......

Why would I have found 7 dead wasps in 2 days in my babies room (he doesn't sleep in there yet) but there are absolutely no signs of a nest anywhere in the house or on the outside?

Semi detached, no visible nest near the window, that room is the only room on that side of the house. Have ripped the room apart but no nest.

Only dead wasps so can't see where they're getting in from!!

Wtf?!

Is the loft entrance near his bedroom door? That’s the case for us - they crawl down from the loft and head for the closest window (no nest).

I had 1-2 dead wasps on my bedroom windowsill 3 days in a row a couple of weeks ago. None since but it's been very wet and now cold here (Scotland). I just assumed they got in an open window somewhere and as my bedroom is the first door at the top of the stairs ended up in my room. I've got severe tinnitus so probably wouldn't have heard them buzzing at the window.

I have 3-4 wasps each day that I have to chase out of the house. Sometimes double that. I have lots of windows open so I know how they get in. The number is insane though. Find some lying on the carpet too. Always worried someone will walk in them with bare feet. Keep meaning to google if they can sting after they are dead.

The room is near the entrance to the loft, so that's a possibility. The windows always open in that room but I've never seen any come in. It's worrying because that's where I feed the baby during the night, where all of his stuff is. I've found them in a few places, like on his toys and on clothes. I cant see how they would get from the loft though, there doesn't seem to be any gaps?!

Could you get a screen made for the window? We had screens made for all our windows, and sliding glass doors. They make a huge difference to peace of mind. Before getting them, we were constantly fighting mosquitos, huge flying crane flies, and wasps. Wasps really freak me out when they are in the house.

It was not very expensive. In fact, DH has made screens himself a few times when we lived in a different place. You can buy the edges and screening in a place like Home Depot.

Ours were coming in through the loft hatch. No visible gap. DW masking taped it all up and not had one since.

Masking tape is a cracking idea. That's the only place I could imagine they are coming from. Will mask up tonight!!

Fingers crossed!

They can squeeze through gaps around light fittings too. Have a look in the loft see if you can see a nest. They'll be hibernating soon.
