Wardrobe dilemma

We are changing our bedroom furniture and I have fell in love with a set but the only problem is the wardrobe style.

The wardrobes will have 2 drawers on the bottom, instead of being full length.

How will I hang dresses in a short-arse wardrobe?

Is there any trick that I am missing? This is the only thing that is putting me off ordering them Sad

What height is the hanging rail?

LazyLizzy · 30/08/2019 13:42

I'm guessing around 130cm?

So the total wardrobe height is 188cm including 2 drawers.

How many full-length dresses do you have?

Height-wise I have one side of the wardrobe that's about 6 foot high and the space underneath the dresses is wasted space that I use to stack shoe boxes. There are probably 5 or 6 floor-length dresses which means there's a whole 3 foot area going to waste with the rest of my knee-length or above dresses alongside the ballgowns. If I was redesigning my wardrobe that's an area I'd want to improve.

It's mainly maxi dresses. I've been used to huge fitted wardrobes but ripping them out and going for freestanding.

I don't think the wardrobes you're planning on are going to be big enough, then. (Sorry).

If they're from somewhere where they make them in house could you be cheeky and ask if it would be possible to have them without the drawers?

It's M&S, I have rang them and no plans to do it in a full length wardrobe sadly.

Looks like I may have to keep searching for an alternative.

I fold long things over at the waist and use a skirt hanger with clips.

LazyLizzy · 30/08/2019 14:23

Pink that's a good idea. I just need to stock up on those type of hangers instead of the normal shirt hangers.

Or the velvet full hangers so i can just hang them over in half and they won't slip off.

I have a wardrobe like this. It’s mostly OK. Dresses that a wear a lot, and which are too long, hang on the back of the bedroom door. My wedding dress and my only floor length dress live in suit bags, which hang on on side of the wardrobe next to the wall.
