It will be a Saturday, they are years 6, party is 2 hours and includes food that is provided..... I appreciate saturdays are family days so wondering what the best time would be to try to suit as many people as possible?!

What age is Year 6?

Probably whatever the latest 2 hours the venue does so families can still do something during the day.

They are 10/11 so the options are 1.30-3.15 or 5-6.45. The latest is ok isn’t it I would’ve thought? Food is either ‘tea’ so sausages, sandwiches or pizza etc which I would’ve thought more filling and better it fthey are there over actual dinner time? Iv never done an actual party like this and will be the last one probably so no idea of etiquette?

Yes! 5-6.45 sounds like a good time. Doesn't mess up the day likes 1pm party.

wendz86 · 30/08/2019 18:51

The second option sounds best to me .

I quite like a 1 o'clock party. Not too early (what is with the trend for very early weekend morning parties Confused?) or too late. And a free lunch for DC as a bonus.

Ouchmyheadhurts · 30/08/2019 19:08

Ok what about party bags?? Do I have to do them??

OP posts:

No party bags. You're not being tight or lazy, you're saving the planet from tat Wink

Ouchmyheadhurts · 30/08/2019 20:28

Every party dc has been to be came home with the ‘bag of tat’ are you sure parents won’t think I’m tight?!

Elodie2019 · 30/08/2019 21:32

No! Send the back with a cupcake or piece of cake.

reluctantbrit · 30/08/2019 21:53

As late as possible unless it is a fixed activity during the day. Dinner should be substantial, DD and her friends often got Dominios delivered.

Party bags depends on the style of party, we did nail varnish and lip gloss the last year and DD came home with things like key rings, friendship bracelets, sweets and hair accessories.

PullingMySocksUp · 30/08/2019 21:54

Sweetie cone/paper bag full of sweets for that age I’d say. Does the child have any idea of the norm at their school?

CharlotteFlax · 30/08/2019 22:01

You have to do some kind of party bag and it doesn't have to be "tat". It's the main bit of the party for most invitees!

Minecraft miniatures? Lego/Playmo blind bags? A Tom Gates book... and yes, a bag with cake and sweets too.
