What does no follicles mean for fertility?

Duplicate post here for traffic
I had scan today showed normal size right ovary small left ovary no follicles on either, uterus healthy. Told ovaries are inactive.
Im 38, wondering if any chance of them becoming active again or if im on my way to menopause? I already take hrt for symptoms, but continue to have regular bleeds.
Thanks in advance

Aren't follicles the eggs?

The follicles are the immature eggs. The ripen and then burst to release the egg into the Fallopian tube.

I’m so sorry OP. Have you seen your consultant yet? Was it the scan technician who told you this? It was wrong of them to say anything knowing you’d have to wait for the consultant’s opinion.

Hopefully the consultant will think that Clomid can help you.

theonly any need? The OP just wants some advice and moral support too probably and all you can offer is sarcasm.

Christ theonly what a bitch.

OP I had this at 43, it means you probably will find it very hard conceiving. I had early menopause.

Bumping for OP, does anyone more knowledgeable know? I didn't ask at the time about fertility as didn't want more DC's, but was Shock all the same.

Follicles aren’t the eggs or immature eggs. They are sacs that potentially contain eggs. Each month one or more follicles will grow and release a mature egg. But not always. Did the doctor say there were no follicles at all or no growing follicles? There are medications that can be taken to help follicles grow.

They said no follicles or growing follicles can be seen 😕

I'm just about to hop off a train after a work trip but @Justanamechange1 I've been where you are at age 30, done that and got the T shirt. I've no qualifications but I do have personal experience. Please feel free to PM me any questions and I'll do my best to answer. I might not be able to respond until the morning though as I've got to get home from the station.

Hi SageYourResoulteOracle...I'm too in the same boat.Have been told I have one follicle remaining which is just there..not growing or anything by a private infertility consultant. She also said she wouldn't advise ivf. As I am 43 years old and my periods have stopped since last January.Any advice from you would be much appreciated.
