Still having allergic reaction to clothes despite re-washing

I wondered if anyone has experienced this before. I've had an allergic reaction to fabric softener that has been going on for nearly three weeks. I've re-washed everything but still reacting quite badly, even with antihistamines. Any idea how many washes will get the softener out enough to enable me to wear my clothes comfortably?!

Are you sure it’s just the softener you’re reacting to and not whatever you’re washing it in?

I've stopped using the softener and changed detergent to Surcare so pretty sure it's just remants of the old stuff on the clothes.

I was going to say the same as Joxter. It could be your washing power/liquid, too.

It's not the detergent - I've stopped using that too just in case. Using Surcare now with no softener.

Is surcare what you were using before? Because it could still be a problem. Has it had a 'new improved' label appear on it, because that was always the kiss of death as far as DD1's allergies went and usually meant something else struck off the tiny list of foods she could eat or products she could use. Was your bedding also washed in the same products?

It could be the allergic reaction that’s continuing rather than the source - if that makes sense
So even if you’ve removed the culprit, your skin will be ultra sensitive for a long time. That’s always been my experience unfortunately
So you’ll need keep up with the antihistamines and skin cream

I'm allergic to nylon/wool/feathers. Could it be the fabric itself you have an issue with?
