Recommend a vacuum cleaner?

I’ve got a Henry atm and while he sucks up everything, manoeuvring him around the house is a pretty painful task. So I’m in the market for a new hoover. Before Henry we had terrible trouble finding one that actually sufficiently did the job. So I would really appreciate recommendations!

I have a small shedding spaniel so it needs to be man enough for pet hair.

Cordless sounds appealing.

No particular budget... if it makes light work of hoovering then I am willing to spend whatever it takes!

Light enough to lug up and down stairs.

Thank you xx

I have the cordless Dyson and it's fantastic. I think Shark do a version specifically targeted at pet hair. I'd never go back to a plug in vac.

tokenginger which one do you have? They seem to be the way to go but obviously the go up in price as they've been upgraded and I'm not sure how much to spend!

I've got a Shark and it's the best vacuum I've ever had.

Ooo which one @upnothern? They seem to have a more reasonable price tag than dysons

It's a lift away duo-clean one. I've got two v fluffy cats, so have to clear the brush roll quite often but it's not the biggest hassle ever - that said, if I was buying again I'd probably get the pet-specific self brush clearing one.

Bloody hate henrys. Miele cat and dog (c3) for me.

Pinkflipflop85 · 29/08/2019 15:41

I am in love with my shark lift away. I swear that thing is magic!

Do you think bag or bagless is the way to go?

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 29/08/2019 15:59

I've tried so many, but none make as easy or do as good a job as Henry. He is a pain for lugging around though.

We have a Dyson V8 and love it - it makes hoovering so much easier, especially the stairs.

User147897643556 · 29/08/2019 16:43

@OhLookHeKickedTheBall exactly where I’m at... I think the pain of lugging has got to me!

I think the v8 is at a price point I’m happy with but they go up to v11 now so was worried I needed to spend more to make it worth it. Maybe I need to look into shark...

If you have the budget for it I’d say get 2! I have cordless Dyson for quick tidy. Get the older, cheaper models & a Miele cat & dog for major cleaning & pet hair. Can’t bear to empty big bag less vacuums. Dust gets everywhere! I don’t have pets but daughters who shed hair!

TokenGinger · 29/08/2019 17:11

We have the Dyson V6 which I think was £200 and we got the attachment kit for free with it which should have been £50. It's a slightly older model but it's brilliant for us.

I am far more inclined to vacuum more often now as it's so quick and easy to whizz it around rather than the hassle of lugging the big vacuum down the stairs, plugging it in etc.

I started with the Bosch pet athlet and upgraded to a Harry because it just couldn't cope with cat litter, hair, carpet.
We keep the lightweight one upstairs and use it for quick bedroom cleans on the laminate floors, but I still need to lug the Harry upstairs if I want to do the landing carpet properly, it just doesn't get the pet hair out the carpet. The Dyson does get a good reputation as far as I know.
