Anyone had a UTI before? Can you help me out?

For about 2 weeks now I’ve had this weird feeling at the end of urinating. I wouldn’t call it a pain, but it’s not normal if you see what I mean. The feeling comes just as I finish urinating and seems to runs from my clitoris area into my lower bladder (I guess) , almost like the feeling you get when your bladder is full and you need to go, except I have just finished urinating so don’t need to go obviously. It lasts about 1-2 seconds and happens every time I go with varying intensity.. any ideas? At first I thought UTI, but it hasn’t got any worse over the last 2 weeks so I feel like it’s not? Not sure as I have no other symptoms

It could still be a uti, sometimes they lurk for a very long time. Pop to the GP, if you phone they may be able to test your wee without an appointment

This sounds like my experience of a UTI - try to drink loads and loads of water to flush it out. Cranberry juice might be urban legend, but I’ve actually found it helpful too.

This was how I found I had a prolapse. The prolapse was pushing the bladder out of place, pushing the end of the bladder out and that was what was causing the uti like symptoms and constant need to wee.

Women's Health Physio has helped.

I'd say you need to get checked if you suspect UTI. It can be really nasty if it's untreated and spreads. I was off work for a month and ended up in hospital. Not being alarmist here, just saying. And if it's not UTI then you need to know what it is. Does sound like a slow developing UTI though.

Needtobuildabridge · 28/08/2019 23:07

Yeah sounds UTI like!
Drink warm water it'll work better than cold.
It's hard but try to not pee constantly. Allowing your bladder to fill and empty will ease the problem. I find sitting in a warm bath helps! (Just water, no bubbles or soap!!)
Hot water bottle between your legs, or on the left hand side of your tummy may also help.

Hope you feel better soon, I get them all the time and they're awful! ☹

Sounds like a UTI to me ! I had that once and it lasted three weeks before turning nasty . I’d get checked just in case !

questions3900 · 28/08/2019 23:11

@Itsemily what do you mean by nasty if you don’t mind me asking Shock

Yep - sounds like a UTI

For this stage you can sometimes get rid of it before it gets nasty and my particular method was using those 'cystitis sachets' you can buy in any supermarket.

They often stopped it developing to full-on illness levels

I've not had one for a while now, since changing my diet and going sugar-free. Used to get them every few months and this is nearly 2 years without, so I would recommend also looking at your diet while you have these symptoms.

GaaaaarlicBread · 28/08/2019 23:17

It turned into a really bad kidney infection where I got stones and a lot of blood/protein as well as developing a shocking fever which landed me in hospital . I had to go on a long course of anti biotics . Don’t worry you’ll be ok if you get checked . Call the Dr tomorrow for a dip test . Let me know how you get on ! X

glitterbiscuits · 28/08/2019 23:21

How old are you OP? The menopause can change the bladder due to lack of oestrogen.

badg3r · 28/08/2019 23:28

Sounds like a uti, you should get checked. If you are unlucky they can make their way up to the kidneys and that is excruciating.

PerfectionistProcrastinator · 28/08/2019 23:33

Lots of experience here.

In terms of how it can turn nasty...for me it goes from that slightly uncomfortable feeling at the end of a wee to “someone is pouring salt on an open wound inside my bladder” feeling. A consistent, relentless pain that at its worst leaves me even unable to think straight, nevermind hold a conversation. It can cause a kidney infection and be very serious.

For some though, the symptoms aren’t so bad. Though many women have a repeat infection after their initial one.

Definitely see your gp. They’ll dip your urine to see if you have an infection. Make sure the sample you give them isn’t overly diluted but also make sure you’re hydrated.

Cystitis 👎 Currently Have it myself and on antibiotics, nothing else shifts it for me 😭

Summersunshine2 · 29/08/2019 00:06

See gp if it's been going on that long. Mine turned into a kidney infection too. Bloody horrendous.
