Potty training help

Posting for traffic (sorry)

DD is nearly 3 and we are having difficulty with PT.

Tried when she was 2 and a bit (using the oh crap method) and she was completely clueless after 5 days so we decided to go back to nappies and try again in a couple of months.

Life got in the way as these things do; I went back to work and she started a nursery a couple of months ago and with all the changes we decided to wait until she was showing an interest

Last weekend she asked for the potty and managed a day and a half of getting everything in the potty (even a poo) with only one accident while commando. We then went to visit family for an afternoon and had quite a few accidents but put this down to excitement and distractions plus she was wearing knickers which she isn't used to but decided to run with it while she's keen.

She was in nursery for a half day yesterday and today and has somehow held her wee in from the overnight nappy / waking up all the way throughout the morning until we get home after 1pm and then has a accident not long after getting home. We're now meeting real resistance to going near it despite stickers etc

I'm at a loss now, it feels so counterproductive to put her back in nappies now she's very nearly 3 but I'm worried she's going to cause problems by holding it in so long and is getting visibly distressed, plus the house and sofa stinks!

Does anyone have any suggestions or advice?

It’s been less than a week. It takes a lot of perseverance

To be fair, it doesn't sound like you are potty training, more that you introduced it and expected it to work. If you work, you need to get nursery on board. If you are at home, its relentless potty focused time. Don't go out, unless essential, in which case, take the potty and maintain frequent visits to sit on it.

Fair point both of you, of course I didn't just expect it to work I expected lots of accidents but I'm concerned she's holding wee in for around 6 or 7 hours at nursery and the problems that can cause.

We actually planned to start when I had at least 5 days at home with her but as she asked for it and showed enthusiasm so I thought it was worth going along with while she is willing.

Since writing the first post yesterday we've had 0 accidents and everything in the potty, she won't go if I ask her to try but happily goes when she needs to (but we've been at home since then)

Nursery are on board, she takes her own potty but as yet won't go while she's there, I hope this will come in time because I'm worried about infections or causing damage.
