Weaning

So it's been nearly 4 years since I last weaned, my ds was born at 27 weeks and ended up with a few issues meaning he needed weaned early after pediatrician advised either weaning or feeding tube..... however now my dd is 5 months old,
starting to be interested in our food etc but nothing has been started, and won't more than likely until 6+ months.... however....I'm clueless, with my son I HAD to feed him, monitor everything etc, I'm not sure how to start this time round, I'm interested in babyled weaning, but never had the opportunity to look into it last time so I feel like I'm clueless....how do I start? what do I start with? What do I avoid? Are jars better? Please don't bash me, I'm asking for guidance, I've never done this without medical intervention before. 😊

There's a weaning section under talk on here with lots of good ideas and tips.

I did a mixture of spoon and finger foods. So things like yogurt I fed her, then she would have something to eat herself.

I found it hard, I was very anxious about choking, have just gone at my own pace, or her pace and been ok so far.

They will likely let you know when they are ready, my dd at 5.5 months stole and ate a tuna sandwich. At that point I decided she was ready to wean and we just went with what ds and I were eating along with all milk feeds still offered. Careful of salt levels, choking hazards (whole grapes etc), honey til after 1.

Avoid jars. If you do want to do purees, make your own. I started DS off with pureed parsnips, sweet potato and peas, then I did soft finger foods like cooked carrots cut into strips, bread and butter slices, pasta. I didn't introduce fruit or sweet foods until a couple of months in.
