If you bought an Uppababy Vista - would you recommend it?

Currently our top choice but I’m worried it’s slightly big to get around the shops etc.
DH loves it and I love a lot about it but that’s the only thing that’s putting me off.
Just wondered if you have one, are you pleased with your choice? Would you buy it again now you’ve used it for a while?

Yep, we love it - a year in and we are very happy.

We bought 2nd hand though

HelloCanYouHearMe · 28/08/2019 05:36

Had one for my DS... My only gripe with it was that I had to take a wheel off to get it in the boot of my Fiesta

Elpheba · 28/08/2019 05:40

Love it- using it for DC2 now so it’s been in use for nearly 3 1/2 years. It is big yes, but comfy for the small one and the basket is amazing- I’ve had other mums comment with envy on how much shopping I can fit in it! Pushes like a dream, and toddler uses basket as a seat if she’s too tired (shouldn’t do that really but it’s worked for over a year now!)

Absolutely yes. It’s not too big, I can count on one hand the times it hasn’t fit through a door and it’s only in old places with weird narrow doors that only have 1 of the two open.

stairway · 28/08/2019 06:02

We have a second hand one. I wouldn’t pay full price for it. The basket is brilliant will carry just about anything. It’s very heavy though and pretty indestructible. I’m not convinced the seat is that comfortable. It pushes fine.

bananagramanam · 28/08/2019 06:05

Yes, love ours. Huuuuge basket underneath; really easy to collapse and to fit attachments on and off; easy to steer. Winner.

MindyStClaire · 28/08/2019 06:11

I'm slightly fanatical about how much I love ours, DH is the same. DD is 16 months now. I wouldn't buy it if you'll be on buses a lot or if you live somewhere with very narrow pavements and tiny shops. But in our suburban town it's brilliant.

Whosafraidofvirginiawoofwoof · 28/08/2019 06:15

Yes. Our Uppababy is probably the first thing we’d ever recommend to new parents. We love it. Very easy to manoeuvre, sturdy and - whilst it’s big, it’s pretty much standard width for going through shop doors and aisles etc.

misspiggy19 · 28/08/2019 06:21

My friend has one- it is large but still looks new after 3 kids. Really smooth and easy to push.

Elpheba · 28/08/2019 06:25

Also- to chime back in, I don’t think it’s possible to have a pushchair that does everything so at some stage you might end up with a small, lightweight stroller- we got one for travelling/flying. But it’s easy to pick up a cheap ish one of those, especially when baby is over 6 months and can go in most things.

MindyStClaire · 28/08/2019 06:41

Exactly Elpheba, we got a lightweight stroller for the nursery run as we leave a buggy there and the vista is too big, plus I wouldn't want to risk it getting damaged. But the stroller still never comes out at weekends.

Fridakahlofan · 28/08/2019 06:48

Love my vista for dog walks and big shops. Literally hate it for anything in towns and involving public transport. It works well for us alongside something smaller (one in car, one in hall).

Definitely buy second hand!

Bellasblankexpression · 28/08/2019 08:04

Thank you!
Will be using it in parks and in town (but it’s a big town centre no narrow pathways).
Not planning to use it for the bus and won’t be getting the bus often.

The plan is to pick up a super lightweight stroller a bit later on for travel etc.

The size did put me off although I’ve tested it out and found it easy to fold and take apart etc.

I absolutely love mine and it's still doing well for my son who is now two. I ended up having to buy a bigger car with a bigger boot Blush when he was first born though. It's mainly used for local walks now, I like to walk to the shops and can fit my weekly shop in the basket. When my son was a few months old I bought a Cosatto Woosh for the car which is also amazing. I've definitely had my money's worth and after a few turns pushing my niece in her pram this week I'm even more grateful we got our vista.

Bellasblankexpression · 28/08/2019 08:31

We will actually be buying a new car (a big ish one) so I’m not too worried about boot space.

Do people who have one find they fold it down and put it back up or lot or tend to leave it up?
I found it easy to fold down but less easy to find an obvious way of holding the chassis if that makes sense - the icandy lime for example has a strap once it’s folded but the vista seems much sturdier and better made

OP posts:
MindyStClaire · 28/08/2019 08:56

We have a big porch so leave it up, it only really gets folded if it's going in the car.

When the chassis is folded, stand it to your side rather than in front of you, with the back wheels to your body, either side of your leg. Bend down and there's a little bar (between the front wheels). Grip this and lift it up onto your hip. I probably haven't described it properly, but it's much more ergonomic than lifting in front of you.

Princessgenie · 28/08/2019 09:00

We bought one in 2011 when they were just coming out in the UK. Literally the best thing we bought and recommended to everyone we knew. Adored it. Easy to use. She was super comfortable. And was really easy to sell in after we were finished.

Cashew1 · 28/08/2019 09:09

Depends where you live, it's too big for London buses really. I have the Cruz and love it but doesn't have the option to fit two in!

SoyDora · 28/08/2019 09:12

Yes, I love mine and it’s now going strong for baby number three.
I put mine up and down daily (tend to keep it in the car boot when not in use) and no issues with doing so.

Andonandonan · 28/08/2019 09:18

We bought ours in 2012 and used it for 2 dc. Absolutely loved it and 2 friends actually swapped their bugaboos for vistas as they are so much more user friendly.

The basket is brilliant, being able to swap seat & carrycot so easily was fab with 2 under 2, the sunshades were so useful. Pushed easily and I never found it too big to do what I wanted with it.

HiHoHiHoBackToSchoolWeGo · 28/08/2019 09:38

Love mine. Like another poster said-it's one of the first things I'd recommend to new parents. The basket is one of the best bits! We're about to get the buggy board for my son as we don't use it as a double now, but as a single or double, it's not difficult to manoeuvre either.

We also have the babyzen yo-yo as that folds right down for travelling etc and is super light weight. They're both fantastic.

Downwiththatsortofthing252 · 28/08/2019 14:02

I bought the Uppababy Cruz after a cousin mentioned the wheels on the vista were quite large. But then I had twins, so had to buy a Vista anyway!

Those who say it doesn't fit on buses; I use it all the time on buses! And that's it set up as a double, it fits easily and with room for another pram beside it. That's London buses too. I find it very easy to go around corners, in shops, I love it. It's future proofed incase you decide to have another child soon after.

It can carry two carrycots easy when they're small, and then two seats facing backwards is great aswell, both seats recline when they're asleep. The only thing I would say is we're now at the stage where both 1 year old twins want to face forward, and that causes an issue, since I can't now recline the seats back (no leg room) and the top twin can kick the bottom twins head if he wants to. So might have to change it soon, but I don't want to ☹️

Bellasblankexpression · 28/08/2019 16:37

downwith good to know you have used it on buses without folding it up - I won't be doing that often but handy to know it can be done :)

The reason we liked it was because it can be reconfigured with two easily..and you get all the bits and pieces with it...

the newer vista- 2016/17? have a narrower wheel width and easier collapse, but I bought the old version for £120 and love it so either is great.

mommybear1 · 28/08/2019 17:03

Absolutely love it no regrets easy to use in shops fab basket I have the 2015 model
