Hiring a Cleaner - Does it make a real difference?

Hi,
I have a toddler, plus two other dcs and I am considering hiring a cleaner (at least on a temporary basis) to clean essential areas such as bathroom and kitchen.
Can I ask - if you have a cleaner does it make a real difference/really lighten the load and what do they clean?

Yes. 3 hours a week. She cleans the whole house really. It's brilliant.

I hVe a cleaner 3 hours every other week. It's fantastic - as much a result Dion on my mental load as well as the obvious benefits.

Yes! It's great knowing the basics are getting done. It does make me do a proper tidy beforehand as well, as I don't want our cleaner to have to tidy. Only downside is that it looks a mess again as soon as the kids get in, but at least it's clean.

Yes it’s made a huge difference! We have one fortnightly and it just takes a lot of the burden away. It’s not just the cleaning, but the constant thought of when am I going to find the time to do it. It’s all just gone as I think oh the cleaner will be here Monday!

Alicatz66 · 27/08/2019 22:03

No .. they don't do it properly and you end up doing it again !!!

Biggie123 · 27/08/2019 22:06

Yes, a huge difference. I wouldn’t restrict it to certain areas if you can afford not to.
Cleaning is hard work.. and people can do it to very different standards. When my cleaner cleans my bathroom sink it stays looking clean a lot longer than when I do it.
She does in 4 hrs what would take me 7hours. And with my kids there would take me 11hrs or something.
I gave up a weekly take away for it easily and would cut back on more if I needed to

Biggie123 · 27/08/2019 22:06

@Alicatz66 surely that’s only if you have a bad cleaner!

Smellybluecheese · 27/08/2019 22:09

Yes, we have the same - 3 hours every other week and it makes a HUGE difference

ILikTheBred · 27/08/2019 22:10

Yes. Worth every penny. House is immaculate for about 24 hours before the kids destroy it again

Orangesandlemons82 · 27/08/2019 22:13

Yes! I was cynical but it makes a massive difference and I think our house definitely looks cleaner all week. I think her attention to detail is greater than mine! Its so nice when she has been and I get home and don't have to do a rushed clear up.

MintTeaLady · 27/08/2019 22:26

Yes! One of the best decisions I’ve ever made!

Impatientwino · 27/08/2019 22:29

Yes! It makes an enormous difference to us! Do it! But take your time to find a really good one with recommendations!

EL8888 · 27/08/2019 22:30

Yes, it makes a big difference. A decent cleaner is totally worth it. When l had one it freed me up a massive amount, l was working quite a lot at this time

My cleaner hid my passport in an attempt to stop me going on holiday with my husband.
We found the passport at the 11th hour.
She was a jealous so and so but I've not trusted a cleaner since.

Leftiefterson · 27/08/2019 22:35

Absolutely. We have a cleaner twice a week for 6 hours and once a month we have additional bits and pieces done like cleaning the cooker, inside windows, inside our kitchen cupboards, fridge/freezer etc.

I still clean daily (bathroom and kitchen) but it takes a matter of minutes. I’m so much less stressed out and our cleaner is marvellous and does a Better job than me.
