Ah, I'm sorry. It is really sad. Such a loss to the community

TamarindCove · 27/08/2019 18:09

It’s very sad and something which I think could have been avoided. Such a shame for everyone involved with the club & it’s supporters.

Sandsnake · 27/08/2019 18:14

I don’t know if it’s final yet, but I’m so sorry if that happens. I support Bournemouth and my formative football watching years we’re spent putting pocket money in buckets and wondering if we’d survive. It’s really horrible - small clubs in particular mean an awful lot to their fans. Hoping that things are more hopeful than they look for you (and Bolton).

Isthebigwomanhere · 27/08/2019 18:15

I honestly thought Bolton would have a buyer by now.
So am totally shocked and upset for them as well.

Poor Bolton too. My dh family supporters for over a century, one designed the first floodlights, others experienced and helped the people from the train disaster.
Such a shame. Sad

WalkersAreNotTheOnlyCrisps · 27/08/2019 18:20

I'm sad for Bury, not that far away Sad

Isthebigwomanhere · 27/08/2019 18:21

The rumour is that Jill Neville has asked for an exstention and put a bid in.
Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

Terrible news for Bury and Bolton supporters and for football.

latedecember1963 · 27/08/2019 23:07

So sad for both clubs and both communities. My elder son has been a season ticket holder since he was about 12 years old. This was him a couple of hours ago. ☹

RIP Bury Fc
AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 27/08/2019 23:10

My sympathies are with Bury fans - my team are currently homeless and having to ground share in another city, and fans are divided between those who will support the club wherever they play and attend matches, and those who deem them disloyal for financing the club while the current owners are in charge. It is a sad state of affairs.

Isthebigwomanhere · 27/08/2019 23:24

We are out!
It's gone.

BackforGood · 27/08/2019 23:28

It is so sad for the communities when clubs go under like this.
Especially when you think of the ridiculous sums of money swishing around in the game. It really needs to be distributed better to enable every town to have a team they can believe in.

Isthebigwomanhere · 27/08/2019 23:29

It's a huge blow to the town and local business.
I'm absolutely devastated

I live in Bolton and although not a football fan feel so sad about both teams that are so local to each other, literally a few miles. Just thinking of all the people set to lose their jobs,150 at Bolton I believe. God knows what they'll do with the stadium...

TheChippendenSpook · 27/08/2019 23:37

As a Blackpool fan my heart goes out to you. Flowers

UnsolvedTheory · 27/08/2019 23:58

So sad to see this news, I've enjoyed a few away games at Gigg Lane. It's awful that so many lower league clubs are in such a precarious financial position, when there is so much wealth sloshing about in the Premier League.
I'm a Chesterfield fan and the same nearly happened to us in 2001 (our fraudster chairman Darren Brown ended up in prison after bleeding the club dry). We fought our way back but now we're struggling financially again, and we've dropped from the heights of the League One playoffs in 2015, to the relegation zone in the National League with 0 wins in the first 7 games of the season.
All my sympathies to the Bury fans, it's a horrible horrible position to be in, but hopefully the club can somehow re-form and rise again.

PickAChew · 28/08/2019 00:05

I couldn't give a shit about football, normally, but I do think this is awful for their fans.

PickAChew · 28/08/2019 00:08

I've watched Hartlepool, closer to home, struggle to survive, recently, too.

Pieceofpurplesky · 28/08/2019 00:12

So very sad OP

latedecember1963 · 28/08/2019 07:13

My son thinks that there's a covenant on Gigg Lane from Lord Derby to say that the land has to be used for sporting or recreational purposes. Hopefully this will stop it being sold off for house building.

flapjackfairy · 28/08/2019 07:26

It is a disgrace that the game has moved so far away from its roots that It is all about who can secure the most affluent buyers . There is an obscene amount of money in the game as a whole and there needs to be a better system for distributing it throughout the leagues.

The situation of paying players in the premier league hundreds of thousands of pounds a week to effectively kick a ball around a piece of grass is just madness but they are undergirded by tv rights and sponsorship deals that make your eyes water. Meanwhile the smaller clubs who are supported by local peoples attendance are left to flounder . I would welcome a cap on wages and investment by rich owners and redistributing of the money in football to create a more level playing field. But sadly that will never happen so this is the end result.
I love football and feel v sad for everyone connected to Bury and Bolton.

lastqueenofscotland · 28/08/2019 07:28

Why anyone with over 60 wound up companies to his name was allowed to buy it I’ll never understand

wheresmyhairytoe · 28/08/2019 09:18

It's a very sad day for football.

So sorry OP.

Isthebigwomanhere · 28/08/2019 18:27

It's just said on BBC news that Bolton is safe
