Has anyone stayed in a Travelodge family room?

And can tell me what it’s like?! I’m trying to find somewhere for a one night stay near Derby and this has come up. I don’t really want to pay for two rooms or have to drive back that night.

Obvs if the room is tiny then I’ll reassess. There is five of us, 2 x 10 year olds and a 7 year old.

I have
They are usually two rooms linked via a door

Try the Hilton, usually cheaper and free breakfast

I think they only sleep 4. Maximum 2 adults and 2 children on the pull out beds. It leaves you with very little floor space. They are much better for 3 people. You can get interconnected rooms (at Premier Inn too).

They only sleep 4, there's 3 of us and it's tight

We had a massive room in Windsor. It probably wasn't representative!

Travelodge family rooms have one double bed and two single beds (sofa/chair beds). They do not care if you take an extra child in - we have strolled up to the check-in desk, family of 5, youngest aged about 8, and cheerfully said “we’ve booked a family room for 4, may we have extra pillows please?” And that seems to be fine. We take a camping mat and sleeping bag for the youngest!

You can’t sleep 5 if you in them, unless the 3rd child is an infant in a travelcot. You will need 2 rooms.

We tried to cram us into a family room this summer by putting the 2 year old in a travel cot, knowing he would sleep in with us. Never again.

I've stayed in one, but it was just me and it was a converted one not purpose built. The room was big but the two twin beds were put up rather than proper beds.

Is there a Premier Inn nearby? Their family rooms are usually better with better beds if you can put all three of them together in a double and you'll get some DCs free breakfast if you pay for adult breakfasts.

Thanks all. There is a premier inn nearby but it’s twice the price and a bit further away which is a pain in the arse.

Small would sleep on a blow up bed but if there’s no room there’s no room! I’ll look at some other places and see what might work better.

I've stayed in travelodge and premier inn family rooms. Depending how long it's for, I'd be tempted to pay the double for the premier inn. If it's only a night who cares if it's cramped??

It is only one day clucky which is why I’m dithering!
