Boring flooring help! Vinyl floors

Need help picking a vinyl floor. Struggling with colours.
Favourites so far are the two in the photo. One is darker and the other is more of classic colour so possibly safer.

It is going in an open plan smallish house, should be light. Walls will probably be white or a variation of. Kitchen will be navy blue gloss with aura dekton worktops.
Any advice or other colours,? You will need to be very specific if poss. So far like the quickstep range and the lamett amazon range ( very keen on this since seems bulletproof which i will need

Lighter colours will show dirt and hairs up, darker colours make the space smaller, I'd go for the lighter wood one.

Humphriescushion · 27/08/2019 20:41

Thanks Merlot, i am hoping the lighter one is not too light and has enough variation to hide the dirt.

I like the darker one. It looks better with the other bits imo.

GOODCAT · 27/08/2019 20:46

Lighter definitely

baffledbeyondbelief · 27/08/2019 20:48

I know it wasn't quite the question you've asked but have you settled on gloss units? They are a nightmare for fingermarks IME.

Humphriescushion · 27/08/2019 20:50

Oh no! A vote for the darker one! Agree it looks better against the blue but worried it will be too dark in the whole room - there is a lot of colour variation in it and some is quite dark. Thanks for the response though.

Yes Baffled i have thought about that and am burying my head in the sand a bit about that! I have always had matt kitchens ( which were fine) and I really want a change. No kids and onlh two of us so hoping it will be ok.

The darker one isn't that dark tbh. It just looks it next to the lighter one. I'd still go for that one, even in a small house. Having it all the same flooring will already make it feel spacious, but will give the room depth. Sometimes if it's too light, the effect is wishy washy. It also looks more contemporary than the lighter one, I think.

WeeMadArthur · 27/08/2019 22:00

Depending on how reflective they are, even darker woods bounce the light around (unlike dark carpet). I like the darker one, I think there is too much of a contrast between the blue and the lighter wood.

NoBaggyPants · 27/08/2019 22:08

The darker wood looks better with the blue cupboards. Don't like the worktop at all.

Humphriescushion · 28/08/2019 08:05

Ok more votes for the darker one. This is so hard. On the samples i am more drawn to the the lighter one, but agree the darker ones looks better against the blue and would be a warmer/ deeper floor. Sales person thougth the lighter was much more classic and that the darker one would date hence also my dithering.

We have quickstep flooring in the kitchen and dining room and it’s really good quality, looked nicer than the other vinyls I looked at at Howdens and other places. I would also say darker too (sorry!).

Banana770 · 28/08/2019 08:08

This is the Quickstep in Chestnut which I personally love Smile

Another vote for the darker

NewMum54321 · 28/08/2019 08:10

Or the one banana suggested... beautiful floor!

Humphriescushion · 28/08/2019 08:58

That is lovely, i struggl to visualise the floors from a sample. Would you be able to send a photo of what it looks like down Banana? Is it actually called chestnut in the quickstep range since I dont think I have seen that on the site. Thanks for all the suggestions.

That is it down, I was reading this thread while eating breakfast! I’ll do a bigger picture. It was part of the Livyn range they do. This is it on a slightly bigger scale.

Ohhhh, I love that Bananas!

My priority was not all samey-samey. You need some variety in the planks.

Mine is Tarkett.

Some shops have big pieces that you can bring home or even open packs that you can lie down on your own floor. Some of the samples I brought home I didn’t like once they were horizontal.

Thank you banana, that is lovely. I have searched the quick step site and can only find vintage chestnut which does not look the same to me. Was it called something different? Also how have you found th vinyl? Does it dent or scratch?

I have posted another picture with them in a line under the settee. Not too worried about them matching the settee since i think it is going to be too big for the new house.

The paler wood one is nicer.
The chesnut is very busy.

Humphriescushion · 28/08/2019 15:33

Thanks bean, do you mean the paler one from my first photo?
