I left school without any qualifications and a U in Maths other gcses mix of d e grades. I did resit and in resits GCSE A and A stars did a levels finally a degree. Never resat the maths though. Really struggle with any maths can get round it in work with calculator and Google. However was really depressed today to pick up a ks2 book in Tesco and on glancing through realised most of the questions are completely beyond me. Anyone else this bad to make me feel less stupid? I always struggled with maths

Could be dyscalculia - number blindness

Yes, I'm the same. Having said that, the way maths is taught now is very different to when I was at school. My husband has always been very good at maths but found it more and more of a struggle to help our youngest with her maths homework!

OP, why don't you sign up for a functional skills maths course? At the moment, you believe that you're no good at maths, but it may be more of a case of you weren't taught properly in the first case.
There's a website I use in school called Mathsmadefun. It's really great at explaining things!

If you didn’t get to grips with it at the time and you haven’t used it, I’m not surprised that you struggled with a ks2 book. That doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t ever be able to improve your maths.

I am wondering if dyscalculia is the reason. I just cant grasp maths or understand concepts or if I do understand it go back later and have forgotten it again . The functional maths is completely beyond me I'm afraid

I'd second mathsifun. It's a great website with very down to earth explanations. Have a look and see what you think.
I hope you find it helpful.

I volunteered in a school year 6 literacy

I’m still clueless! It’s a weird not remembering thing as well. It’s almost as if the brain doesn’t put any meaning to it.

I’m ok with maths general knowledge etc, just can’t keep a verb adverb etc o my head
