What’s made you cry today?

Three years ago my eldest DD was diagnosed with ALL age 24, it’s more common in children, not many adults get this leukaemia.
She was also unlucky in that she needed a stem cell transplant on top of 3 different types of chemo, radiation treatment and countless blood and platelet transfusions. She also had sepsis and a bleed on the brain that needed emergency surgery.
She had to learn to walk again (still needs a crutch and leg support), went through early menopause and her spleen is fucked. She’s still taking chemo and has to have her bone marrow checked every 3 months.
Her boyfriend has been an absolute hero through all of this and they are now living together.
Tonight we were FaceTiming her and we were chatting about how rough it was for her, and this is what had me sobbing, she said “Yes, but I believe that by me getting that type of leukaemia it means that a child doesn’t have to go through it.”
Has anything made you cry today?

Jesus Sad I was about to post about annoying drivers on the motorway xx

Another one sending strength to you and your fabulous DD. My response seems trivial in comparison. Flowers

What a woman! Wishing her the very best Flowers

I had a proud mum moment, my eldest started secondary school, he has ASD and severe anxiety. He had a fab first day.

NoSauce · 26/08/2019 21:52

Nothing until I read what your DD said. What a terrible time she’s had. Sending my best wishes to you all Flowers

Someone I thought I loved

Seeing my little girl age 5 having a full blown panic attack in a water park over literally the sound of someone shouting. Two months ago I had to leave the family home with my two children due to DV and we are now living in a refuge. I cried with guilt that I didn’t leave sooner and how badly effected she is.
Your daughter sounds amazing by the way x

purplepandas · 26/08/2019 22:12

@Bacardi101, that sounds really tough to have seen today. You sound like a fab Mum. You did leave and your DD will always remember that you left. Please don't be so hard on yourself. I hope the next chapter of your life is a happy one Flowers.

Mine is far, far more mundane. DS hates having his nappy changed at the moment. He was crying and rolled onto his front. I picked him up and turned him over. Right before I put him down he flung himself backwards and whacked his head on the edge of the changing table. I knew he was tired and upset already and that he would scream, and it just upset me, I felt so sad for him Sad He's fine btw

Someone on Instagram that I have been following loosing his fight to cancer Sad I've never met him but at the same time was totally heartbroken to read the news.

What an amazing woman you have raised. I'm so sorry you/she had to suffer all of this, but she sounds incredible. What a generous spirit.

Today I attended the internment of ashes of a lady I worked with. Her partner of 16 years was uttlerly lost, and yet said the most incredibly loving words. He always struck me as quite mundane - if that can describe someone - yet today it was apparent to all that this was the love of his life, and that he appreciated every moment spent together. It was very moving. God knows what he shall do without her. He could barely organize his thoughts, poor man, and has nobody left.

What an amazing, inspirational young woman.

I heard a song which reminded me of DP who died 13 years ago and had a bit of a sob. Most days are fine but sometimes a song can send me right back to him, and I miss him so much.

PenguinsRabbits · 27/08/2019 01:59

Your DD sounds lovely.

I cried a bit as we got back from holiday and DH told me whilst on holiday our 15 year old cat who is permanently besides me and purring normally has got chronic kidney disease and has been with the vets for 3 days but he didn't want to worry me on holiday. He loves the cat so much too and was told on his birthday.

Ten years ago my lovely mum had been dead just one day. I was looking at her photo and thinking how beautiful she was and how much I miss her.
