Dry at night

My DS is nearly 5 and not dry at night.

I have always been of the opinion that there is no rush and he will do it when he is ready.

BUT he now needs a steroid cream twice a day and he cannot wear a nappy with the steroid cream. We have double checked with the pharmacist and basically it’s a no no.

So I guess we are going to have to stop with the nappy.

Anyone else just stopped the nappies and dealt with the wet beds and changing the sheets constantly? Do they quickly realise they need to get up for the toilet? If I’m honest I think part of it is laziness on his part. And he may be different when there is no nappy.

But still dreading it if i’m honest.

MY Dd is 4, and did make the decision on her own to stop the nappies at night - but the best tip I’ve been given is to layer those absorbent bed mats with fitted sheets.
So I do :

  • bed mat between mattress and mattress protector.
  • Bed Mat
  • Fotted sheet
  • Bed Mat
  • Fitted sheet
-Bed Mat
  • Fitted sheet.

That way, if she does have an accident, there’s not changing the entire bed in the middle of the night - just whip a layer off.
She’s only had one real accident though - on more occasions she’s done a little trickle which has woken her up, then she’s taken herself to the toilet to do the rest. I also got her up for a wee when I went to bed around 10:30pm for a week or so, but it would appear she doesn’t need me to do that now.

Good luck OP Smile
