Best period pants for a 11 year old

11 DD about to start secondary school. She started her periods in primary and is still getting to grips with organising herself (leaks due to anxiety over changing the pad at school I think). Shes due to start her period during her first week back so I'm wanting to get her some period pants. Please can someone recommend me some! Shes average size for her age but hips are springing out quickly.

Slight sidetrack: Thinx are fab but I got whacked with a big customs charge last time I ordered from them, as they came from the States. Has anyone ordered recently and is that still the case?

Modibodi have a teenage range

And... Crucially... Do they actually work? Shes mostly leaked at the back-sitting down I guess..? Would period pants stop this?

my dd found that they do, yes. she says to wear them with a pad though, not just to rely on the pants x

My daughters use the Cheeky Wipes pants. Plain black, no leaks, and much less expensive than others.

I suffered leakage out the back when sitting down all through school. I'm pretty sure it was down to sitting for long period and it all building up and then gushing out when I stood up.

As an adult I could make sure I got up every 15minutes or so to reduce the gush but that's no so easy at school.

Now I use pads inside period pants (Thinx), I don't trust them enough to deal with a gush but I do trust them enough to deal with the aftermath of a gush.

Make sure you send her with spare trousers/skirt and pants in her bag. I'll never forget leaking at 12/13 and having to walk round all day with my jumper tied round my waist until a teacher told me to remove it.

Some of the reusable pads have a flared back to them. Would she be receptive to trying some of those?

Good luck Flowers

I use the Cheeky wipes ones, much cheaper than others. I teach and often have 3 back to back lessons and no change for a toilet break and have an unpredictable cycle. I use them as back up during heavier days and on their own during the end or when I’m due on. Ive used them for two cycles so far, they work, aren’t bulky like reusable pads. Just remember, like all waterproof products don’t wash them with fabric conditioner.

*no chance of a toilet break.

My periods were a nightmare as a teenager and I would have loved period pants.

They are also good as most schools don’t allow students toilet breaks during lesson time (unless they have a note from Dr.)

Such a good invention. I remember worrying about leaking as a teenager and I remember a girl in my class leaking badly on a chair, poor thing. (No one was horrible about it to her, just sympathetic)

My11 yo has Think Btwn ones. They are the teen range. Been pretty impressed so far.
