Under 11s free on the underground?

Just confirming that under 11s travel free on the underground. In the olden days you use to present yourself at the disabled barrier with your child is this still the case?

They go for free. Just go through the wide gates with them

Yes, but only if they are travelling with a fee paying adult. I think each adult can take up to 4 under 11 children each. If they are travelling solo (not sure why they would be tbh) they have to have a child id photocard thingy

Yes free if with a fare paying adult or if between age 5 - 11 they can get a photo oyster zip card that they can use to beep in and out through the barriers by themselves. The card costs £10 and is valid for the whole 5 years. But that's more relevant if you live in London or are visiting regularly.

Oh and having the 5-11 Zip gives them free journeys on trains within the London zones .(is Southern trains etc). Otherwise you have to buy a children's paper ticket for trains.
