Are they any good?

They’re good in a limited way.. you can’t dry the same amount as you can wash, unless you do frequent small loads

No , not in my experience. Washer part was ok (just ok) dryer useless. I live in Scotland so drying clothes in summer when it rains (constantly) and you don't have heating on is a nightmare. It would just about dry baby clothes or work/school shirts but a good spin cycle leaves them almost dry anyway.
Towels, bedding etc I would have to air dry then finish off to "fluff up" in machine, drying from wash - no chance. Two sets of things to go wrong. Never again

I've never been keen. The washer-dryers I've had (in various rented flats) have always had the same annoying issue: they never dry properly, and when they do dry they seem to leave things smelling slightly musty and odd. Never have this problem with separate washing machine and tumble dryer set-up.

I inherited one from a previous home owner. Hated it. It took too long and the laundry always came out hideously wrinkled, no matter what I did. In the end, I had it taken out even though it was in perfect working order and brought a separate washing machine and tumble dryer.

Never again.

I suspected these would be the responses. Really struggling without our dryer and we just don't have the space for one in our new house.

In my experience they're not good but possibly better than nothing.

Or you could look at getting a heated drying rack (Lakeland do them) or even a fan might help get some airflow and dry things quicker/better.

sashh · 26/08/2019 05:22

I've always had them and never had problems.

You can only dry a half load so if you want the wash and dry cycle you can only wash half a load.

Leaving things musty and not quite dry ios what happens if you try to dry a full load.

Heat pump ones are ok . So brand new rather than older models ( which tend to steam the cloths 'dry')
