What do you order for your toddler to eat on holiday?

Nearing the end of our holiday, but hoping someone has some inspiration. He's a fussy nearly 2yo, eats quite well at home but the same sort of food; jacket spud and beans, roast dinner smashed up, sausage mash and beans, Calum cheese etc.
I'm really struggling with what to order him here, he turns his nose up at everything other than chips and refuse to let him have another meal of chips tonight! Won't eat pasta. Any inspiration?

*cauli cheese

Btw we are in Slovenia - in Spain last time he had loads of tortilla and paella, it was perfect!

Honestly just give him the chips!

I don’t know why people tie themselves up in knots over this, chips while on holiday isn’t going to hurt he child and better that than making the holiday hard for yourself fighting over this.

Put a couple of other bits within his reach so he can try if he wants

When our DC were that age we just ordered an extra plate. Gave them something from our plates and had either starter or dessert rather than just the main course.

Anything he’ll eat. Bread, cheese, something to dip said bread in. I remember once when DD was little and we were in Croatia, her favourite thing from the hotel buffet was soup and rolls/cheese. She didn’t starve, it’s only a few days, it really doesn’t matter what he eats as long as he gets something.

Give him the chips. You're on holiday it won't kill humans it's much better to have a happy, fed child than fight over food. He's not even 2 let him eat what he wants.

UndomesticHousewife · 25/08/2019 11:01

Obviously it won't kill humans! It won't kill him...

Its been a three week trip so the quantity of chips is alarming haha but near the end now a few more portions won't hurt him...!

He's so little at only 2. I'd be ordering him chips and giving him bits to try off your plate e.g. bits of meat, salad etc?

I really wouldn't get stressed about it, you're on holiday x

My fussy toddler ate paella in Spain

You could get him fruit & veg juices with the chips.

If it’s any consolation my ds ate everything by the time he was 10. Enjoy the holiday x

Years ago we went on holiday and DD1 at spaghetti bolognese every single night.

Camomila · 25/08/2019 12:24

DS just has a smaller portion of what we're having/gets a spare plate and shares with me. But we go to Italy and I'm Italian so the food is familiar to him.

In your case I'd just let him have chips and fruit and try anything off your plate that he fancies.

Chips.
