Slippers for an elderly man with swollen feet. Can anyone help?

My 91yo FIL has mobility issues and is in a care home. Suffice to say he spends a lot of time sitting down and wearing his slippers. His feet and ankles are very swollen (care staff are trying to keep this to a minimum) so he cannot get his feet into the slippers he already has.

Can anyone recommend and nice roomy slippers? They can be any kind at all as long as they are big enough. Thank you.

Clarks?

Belindabelle · 24/08/2019 15:45

Google adjustable slippers. They have velcro straps.

PurpleWithRed · 24/08/2019 15:46

Something like this? velcro slipper shoes

M&S do these, they were good for a relative of mine when he was in a care home with swollen feet

Not the most stylist but Padders are quite good and have Velcro on top that can be adjusted for swelling. Also have slippers that go higher up the ankle for comfort if needed. Can be found on amazon.

On mail order?

Apolloanddaphne · 24/08/2019 15:49

I was just looking at the Padders ones. Slippers from mainstream stockists don't seem to be any good at all.

Has anyone ordered from Cosyfeet?

Sandpiper shoes. Google orthodontic shoes. Sounds like he needs a wider fit then the high street shoes.

Tigerty · 24/08/2019 15:55

I mean orthopaedic!

Apolloanddaphne · 24/08/2019 16:00

I have ordered a few pairs from Amazon which look suitable and which i can easily return. If they don't work i will branch out to the more expensive ones from other sites.

Cosyfeet are usually very good for this. I would recommend them.

Apolloanddaphne · 24/08/2019 16:18

If the ones i have ordered for him aren't any good i think Cosyfeet will be my next stop.

We had cosyfeet for my mum and they were very good . Also have you considered one of the machines for feet / legs that Ian Botham advertises as that helped my mums circulation. We also employed a private lymphodoema specialist who came and did deep massage with some machine that also helped .

Time40 · 24/08/2019 16:25

I'd recommend Cosyfeet. They're a bit on the expensive side, but they're good quality and they do the job.

SilverySurfer · 24/08/2019 17:56

I second Cosyfeet, they sell very wide shoes and slippers

Smellslikebiscuits · 24/08/2019 17:59

The Rowan style slippers, from Cosyfeet, were the widest I could find for MIL

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/08/2019 18:02

Cosyfeet. You can tick the vat free box as he has oedema and they have a removable insole.

Apolloanddaphne · 24/08/2019 18:02

Now I wish I had just ordered the Cosyfeet ones!

Sooverthemill · 24/08/2019 18:03

appollo you may be able to cancel the amazon orders

neweeeyebrows · 24/08/2019 18:12

I came on to recommend Cosy Feet Smile

YorkieTheRabbit · 24/08/2019 18:19

I get all my dads footwear from cosyfeet. Good quality and easy returns if needed. Dad has Alzheimer’s so there’s no vat on slippers etc.

CMOTDibbler · 24/08/2019 18:41

My dad has massively swollen feet and usually has leg ulcer bandaging as well. He wears cosyfeet slippers (the boot type) all the time as he can't tolerate shoes and they last amazingly well and can be washed
