Primary school class selection-Composite

Hi all,

My daughter has recently started her new school year having been placed as a Primary 2 into the 2/3 class. At first I was secretly delighted she had been put into the higher composite (her year been split into a straight P2, a 1/2 and a 2/3). In time however I question the reasoning behind this split. She has been split from two of her closest friends and at least half of this class are ASN/well know troublesome/disruptive kids who wind her up no end and to be quite honest from a v different part of town from ourselves and they have little in common in terms of extra curricular activities etc. Another set of kids in the class are a well known trio and reluctant to let her into their group. The straight P2 and 1/2 classes have much less ASN in the class and generally a 'nice' bunch of kids who I would much prefer my daughter socialise with. This not being said in a snobbY way more in s way that these are the kids we would normally see out and about and live closer by.

My daughter's academic ability will be above average and she has always been reported as being a polite, kind, helpful girl who is a delight to be in the class. Having said that I believe because she is polite etc other kids don't resonate as much with this because she follows the rules and won't necessarily put herself out there in terms of asserting her value within friendship groups.

I'm really struggling to see how socially within her class she is going to fit in this year and already she is being left behind with previous friends in the other classes as they are forming their own little groups.

I guess I'm looking for reassurance, reasonings behind why the year group was split in this way.
